thanks, 13element. I wish Tony could see us at work, and drop a line of encouragement. I am working now on his beautiful girl.
I'm here lurking.

All the works look great so far. I'm going to go back and add descriptions to the pictures I posted. It was late last night when I posted them.
The "beautiful girl" is a picture of my mom who passed away last December. Not sure how old she was in the picture. Guessing late teens.
Thanks for participating in the challenge this week! I'm looking forward to all the great posts.

Thank you, Tony.I already did your mom. I am waiting for the scanner to do his job. It took me 1 1/2 hour to do the portrait and 1 hour to scan. I have memory loss problem in my PC.

I have posted two versions of the same picture. they have been scanned with different scanner settings, now I am going off to bed,

so unable to decide

which one is looking proper after scanning. Do let me know and also guide me on where the picture needs improvement. I tried but it is still lacking.

I am glad you like it,Tony. With more patience I would do a better job and even if it's one of my good portraits so far, i am not totally satisfied with the result, the mouth and the chin need more artistry but i am still young

in doing portraits, you know.

Trying this again. The first message didn't come out right so I am reposting it. I tried the one of your Mom. I hope you like it. Unfortunately I am not really good with doing hair and shading, but I am learning.

I had to choose between the man and his dog. I went for the man. Boy, what a mistake! No likeness whatsoever in my sketch! At least the dog wouldn't mind to see no ressemblance

!
I apologize for that Tony. This is what happens when you post your photo in a challenge and get these inexperienced drawers like me.
Your mom was easier and even if I encounter the same features I guess I am not experienced enough to render men.I am more comfortable with girls.
2 HB on sketch pad 9x11 in., 1 1/2 hour.
I learned a lot by doing this sketch and i guess that's why these challanges are good for.

I've never attempted a portrait, and I'm sure my picture isn't an easy subject. Especially the way my head is tilted. That makes it easy to misplace eyes, etc.
However, I think you've done a pretty good job here, especially when you're just sketching. I'm sure everyone would do fantastic if a bunch of time were spent gridding the photo and going for total accuracy.
Great job!

I don't know why the eye on the left looks skewed. It didn't look like that to me whan I was working on it. I may try that one again at a later date to see if I can do a better job. That one was done in about an hour. I think I can do a better job if I spend more time on it.
Have a good day.

Hi there,
I found this site and registered a couple of weeks ago and emerged from lurking just today.
Finally decided to take the plunge and drew something before this week's challenged ended.
Here's my take on Tyler
Click to view attachmentRedid the mouth a couple of times... bad case of trying to "get it right" over and over when the first aproach was clearly better. I get that a lot when I draw

oh well, it's all part of the fun.
