wacko.gif Well I received my new month artist magazine today and they had all of their entry winners for the 2006 Art Contest. They have 5 different sections to choose what you want to do and they even have cash prizes. They also have a beginners entry. I don't know if I am good enough but I thought I may give it a try. If anyone is interested just let me know and I will try to get the information out of the book and at least post their website. I know that the 2007 deadline is May 7, 2007. biggrin.gif

I subscribe to that too Venus, but haven't seen my magazine yet for this month, then again I haven't checked the mail box either smile.gif

Good idea to post the info on the contest and the magazine site here so others can explore and get involved.

Jeanette yeah I thought so too. I just started getting the magazine about a month ago but I thought it was a cool idea. I know everyone is at different levels but they do have a biginner entry level. I searched the site for Artist Magaine and right now the page with the The Artist's Magazine 24th Annual Art Competition isn't available. There are 5 different catagories you can enter in.

1. Portrait & Figure catagory
2. Still Life catagory
3. Landscape catagory
4. Experimental catagory
5. Animal/Wildlife catagory

http://www.artistsmagazine.com go here on the web and print an entry form (when website is working for the competition) and learn more about the contest.

You can submit however many entries as you would like but it will cost you $10 for a beginner or $12 regular fee per image.

Deadline is: May 1st, 2007
Notification for all winners is August 1st, 2007

I think she is referring to your link to the Artists Magazine. Separate the link itself from your comment (which includes the word 'can').

You mean you have to PAY them in order to submit your artwork into their contests? ohmy.gif Um... No thanks. dry.gif

In nearly every art contest that is available, there is an entry fee that must be paid to submit your work. Its part and parcel of the art world and process and pays for the time it takes for individuals to assess received images, admin, media, etc etc.

But if you can afford to submit to a contest or two a year it is a beneficial process as often the provide constructive criticism and advice for the future.

Not for shelling out 10 to 12 bucks per image. Besides, I've heard about a lot of scams that charge a fee in order to post artwork. I'm not saying this is one of them but in any case I'm not about to pay those kind of fees. Especially when they charge that much for one drawing per entry.

I have a subscription to The Artists Magazine and also American Artists Magazine and their sister magazine "Drawing". All 3 of these are really great, especially Drawing, it only comes out 4 times a year but its good. If you go to the larger book stores where they have large selections of magazines you can find these. I usually see them at Borders or Books A Million. Just a little FYO.
Venus
Thanks for the info Painter48!!! I didn't know there were other artist magazines. I will look for them next time I go to Borders. We have a huge one right across the street from my favorite store Michaels...lol.
