I don't have one for today, but I do have one that was done on July 1st - Canada Day - which is Memorial Day in Newfoundland and Labrador. It is in honour of the Battle of Beaumont Hamel in France in WWI when 90% of the Newfoundland Regiment was killed by the Germans. This is the Newfoundland Memorial Park in Beaumont Hamel with remains of the trenches where they fought and died.

nice sketches you guys I did not do a sketch but I wrote a poem instead .
It takes a brave soul
to stand against another
to defend his Country
as if it were his Mother...
The lives that were lost
in all of our war's
look down from heaven
through the golden gate doors....
Remember them
on this veteran's day
Remember them
when you kneel down and pray .

Both of you are great.
Jeanette, that picture has a real feel to it. I can't imagine what it must be like to stand on a battlefeild that you know the history of. Can you imagine the emotions the vets must have felt going back to Normandy this year?
Kim, wow! I cried going by the half mast flag today. My brain just flashed pictures at me.(must be because I'm exercising the art side of my brain). Your poem made me want to cry again.
Thank you both Paulette

Great idea Paulette4 about a quick sketch. I have't done one, but the 11/11 was yesterday for us in Australia and my daughter and myself were silent for 30 seconds while we were at tennis.

Olddad,
Yes I was wishing I had thought of it a week ago. Seeing the flag and doing Jeanette's new sketching from life forum made me think of it. Australia, we really are global here!
