HI Kay
Sorry to hear you're not feeling too good. Look after yourself. Norma
IslanderNL
It sounds more impressive than it is Kay. And I guess more prevalent in Canada which is part of the Commonwealth and has that 'royal' connection still. Even the charity I work for has royal in its title. Each province (10 in Canada) has a Lieutenant Governor who is the Queen's representative and does the work she would if she were here - opening Parliament, patronage of charitable organizations, and the ever present functions such as the one that took place this morning. This is where the vice regal title comes into play as he is the connect to royalty in the UK.

The Lieutenant Governor position is chosen by the Prime Minister of Canada and lasts five years. The LG and wife live at Government House which is beautiful, filled with art and antiques and you can wander around the ground floor and look at it.

I don't have a problem with public speaking, especially in front of a group of strangers. But then again, I do a lot of it. I think the trick to it is knowing your subject well then it flows more easily.

The ceremony went seamlessly ahead, people received awards for aquatic rescues and volunteerism, a reception was held afterwards, then we all got kicked out. smile.gif

The weather is beyond beautiful today too.....warm - almost hot and sunny. Just perfect. That probably means it will snow tomorrow smile.gif

Pneumonia....nasty. Stay warm and rest and get better soon. It does knock the stuffing out of you for sure.
oliverandjazz
wow..it is very impressive jeanette.. good for you hon to be able to do these things, i remember crying in front of my 5th grade class cause i had to read a report aloud..it was so embarrasing and i at 40 something still look back on that day and cringe.. blush.gif

thanks for the get well too from you guys..
Kaly
That is nice Jeanette, I too have a little trouble when it comes to speach in public. Usualy I blush alot laugh.gif But its funny cause I used to do theather when I was younger, and that would be just fine no matter how many people where watching, as long as I am playing somebody else I'm fine!! biggrin.gif

Kay you get well ASAP young lady!!cause we need you fresh as a lettice for next weeks workshop wink.gif

ugh..i went to hosp.last nite..i have the walking pneumonia and the hoochie koochie blues.. tongue.gif

no seriously, i did go and i have the mycoplasma , i think thats what they called it, basically walking pneumonia. boy, what a way to go into winter. it occured to me this morning that i was ravenous and hadnt eaten a thing in two days. i had to have mommy come and get her baby early the other day as i was fading fast and he was running round here with a big smile on his face and full of energy laugh.gif i simply couldnt keep him out of things, he is crawling and every lil piece of leaf on the floor is a treat to him..and every lil nook and cranny a great place to find things to explore..i told his mother to keep an eye on him and that she herself (sounding much like me) should go and get checked as i did cause i think she may have it too and we really dont need baby coming down with it..i have lysoled everything in my house including myself..hubby also doesnt need to get it..
headache (bad) nausea (threw up x2) the pain between my shoulders is what finally sent me to see about it. every cough dry and painful..the nose was completely plugged, now it wont stop running.. achy muscles, joints..oh yes..the whole nine yards..

ACHOOO! about 10 times in a row...sheesh i really hate that tongue.gif

Ooohh...That's not a good bacteria...Well, not really, Mycoplasma infections are generally not very severe (: That's a good thing. You probably got it from someone coughing or sneezing on you 'cause that's how it's spread. Soo, if you don't cough (or sneeze!) on anyone, you'll be fine about not spreading it to anyone. Now, something else might be causing your achyness, runny nose, and stuff; I had all of that a little less than a month ago, dunno what it is though. 'Twas not the best; I was sick for over 5 days like that! And to top it all off, I had a horrible allergy attack! So, I was tired, I was achy, I had a running nose, sneezing times 100, and my eyes were watery wacko.gif Never wanna experience that again, hehe!

But get plenty of rest and drink lots of water (: But, of course, that's a given. I hope you get well soon! If you don't mind me asking, what kind of medications did they put you on? You don't have to answer, that is a personal question, but I'm kinda curious.

&& Aww...What a cute kitten! I remember when our 2 cats were kittens...Now, we've got a picky bulimic (I only say that 'cause she pukes a lot) cat and a cat that's pushing 25 lbs! They're so cute, though laugh.gif I love cats

Kaly - Congrats on your anniversary! (And, sorry I'm late about it, my computer's busted) Me, I'm single, and a happy single at that (: My best friend has a boyfriend, and she completely ignores me when he's around.
oliverandjazz
Thanks Kwon..they put me on erythromyicin for 10 days..i slept most of the day today, now probably wont be able to tonite but i feel better..my nose seems to have controlled itself but the eyes keep running (hubby says i am built upside down..my feet smell and my nose runs) laugh.gif no more pain between the shoulders, but the achy muscles etc are still there, i think i got it from autozone saturday as this came on sunday very quickly and i really dont go anywhere, but hubby, baby etc could have brought it to me too..i think i shall blame autozone. tongue.gif the guy there was sneezing and coughing poor thing. i did manage to eat a large bowl of chicken soup which was so delicious and much needed. i have again lysoled everything like crazy so i should be back to myself again in i would think a day or so..i hate waking up drenched in sweat, but a nice shower made me feel better..i am glad you are better too it sounds like the same ol bug

thanks guys for the get well wishes..

hugs
colnago
Kay, get well soon. It's not nice to be sick, especially at a holiday time.

I just passed by and want to say hello, happy aniversary to Clara and good health and recover soon Kay.

Here is something I filmed last year on Balboa island, a retreat for Hollywood millionaires and once filmstars, 10 minutes by car from my neighborhood.
oliverandjazz

Happy Hallowe'en to all! Boo!
IslanderNL
Wow, impressive Elena. I would imagine this house will be shelling out a lot of candy tonight.

When I was in SoCal last year I saw some very impressive houses. I guess you need impressive money for the upkeep. smile.gif Funny, I was in Irvine/Costa Mesa for awhile doing some business, shame I didn't know you then, we could have gone for lunch and done some sketching! I went to Laguna Beach which is lovely and full of art and artists. I could live there in a heartbeat. I just need some money... rolleyes.gif

My husband went to town the other evening and I asked him to pick up a small bag of candy or chocolate in case we get any kids tonight. Its pretty unlikely because we're smack dab in the woods, but I like to be prepared. Well, he came back with enough chocolate (all the kind he likes smile.gif) for an army of kids. And of course last night he was into it. Who's the bigger kid I wonder?
Kaly
thanks Know and Elena, for the happy aniversary wishes.

wow elena that is very impressive indeed, a bit exagerated for my taste though wink.gif

I showed my sister the site Cees provided to us the other day, Click here! about carving pumpkins and she was very exited about it. She is goint to try carve one herself, because she has a little 5 year old daughter and she likes to do these kind of things with her.

this is what she did last year.

Very effective, classic pumpkin face. They are timeless and fascinating for children.

I haven't carved a pumpkin in years but always love the look of them, gleaming in a dark corner at night.

Elena - great pics of the Halloween House! I've been looking for some ideas for next year. wink.gif Kay, hope you're feeling better today - be sure to keep the warm fluids, tea, broth, etc. close by too - it will loosen up the congestion and just make you feel a little better. I hope you are up and about soon!

Does anyone have suggestions for deodorizing a dog? My dog came home last night stinking so badly that we had to immediately give her a bath. I washed her in regular shampoo once and Dawn dishwashing liquid twice and she still had a faint odor. Of course, before I could catch her and get her into the shower, she had jumped on both beds and rolled around on the one rug we had (note "had" - past tense, I burned the rug in the back yard it stunk so much). We think she got into the trash bags that our hillbilly neighbors stack behind their house for months on end. Whatever it was, she is now confined to the laundry room at night and her kennel during the day. I know if I let her out she will go right back to whatever it was and roll in it again. Any suggestions are welcome!

My husband talked me out of Hallowe'en preparations. It wasn't too hard - he promised a nice meal at an Italian restaurant with cheesecake! rolleyes.gif
ElenaM
Thank you girls. Jeanette, anytime you are in the area just PM me and come to visit. You are very welcome only not to pay attention to my kitchen which needs a lot of work of clean up.I do only the cooking twice a day, fresh food, not that much cleaning it as i spend my time with my hobbies. Cleaning is not a creative job in my view. That's why i don't spend time in the cafe either, I want all my time for art doing.
It wasn't always like this. This started 8 years ago with my first computer and webdesign projects.before that I had a period of experimenting with all cuisines and currently i cook Chinese, Thai, Indian, Turkish, Cuban, Arabic, Spanish, Mexican, American, Romanian, French, Italian food.
Here is a joke about the Joy of washing dishes and my detergent. I used this as fun ecards for a Romanian greetings site.
Kaly
Hi everyone

NCgirl, I used to have dogs, 4 at a time, 3 cocker spaniels and one with no indentefied race wink.gif my cocker spaniels also used to roll on anything, what I did was, after bathing them and letting the fur dry, I put some talk powder, the one that smell nice used on babies wink.gif. it helped keeping the smell off. give it a try.

Elena, laugh.gif what a joy to wash dishes. wacko.gif I too hate doing the tasks around the house!!! including cooking, wich I also do twice a day. Wow you know so many cuisines, only not portuguese biggrin.gif its time you come to Portugal and enjoy our rich gastronomic wink.gif

norma i have a recipe that for skunked dogs that might work..it helps ALOT when my boys get the ol skunk juice on em EWWWWWWWW..now that is a terrible terrible smell..it cuts it way down so it may be effective at completely removing your babes bad smell..

1 quart of hydrogen peroxide
1/4 cup baking soda
tablespoon of dawn

i have a large and small dog so i make a reg batch for the small and a double and even triple batch for my large one

mix them all together put it on pet massage it in and let it stay on em for about 10 mins or so rinse really well..repeat if necessary.
it helps alot on the ol skunks.

good luck with that wink.gif

Hi Kay,

I am happy to see I was of some help to you and your sister. Have fun at Halloween (which we do not even know what it is in Holland).
