Yes Ernest, to bright in my opinion.
I have poor light where I have my computer, and my printer does not print anything red or orange, all reds comes out yellow!!

so I did this on my sofa where the light is better, but was not looking at the image on the screen as I usualy do to get my colours rigth. so I put in to much yellow. I can always say there was a candle inside therefor all this glowing

Thanks Ernest, R.J., and dear Clara, I too enjoyed watching that great classic again,
and Clara, that's one Great pumpkin right out of the patch, very nice.
I had the day off work today and attempted to draw Ernest's adorable daughter. I very seldom draw portraits, and hope to continue to practise. This took me several hours due to the first three tries winding up in my paper shredder, I am very shy about posting this, not to mention some one stole her wand.
Happy drawings,
Brian

Brian that's a great effort -- you quite definitely captured her likeness! Present-day Danielle is sitting here with me right now and she thinks it's pretty funny that Woodstock is sitting on her baby head

Well, it's not too late to go back and hit the stem with some dark greens and blues, and around the perimeter of the pumpkin with some browns and deep reds. It would definitely increase the impact. But I actually like the brightness at the center; it really gives the impression of that candle burning.

I did this a couple of days ago.
I didn't post because I thought I might try again, but no time now.
I tried fixing it on top of it self so there are some funny lines, but oh well I tried.

Oh, but you know I'm a sucker for sketches like that, Paulette. It looks very "Leonardo", especially in that Conte.

Hello everyone. It's nice to meet all of you. I decided to participate in this challenge before the week was out, so I drew the pumpkin. I did it a little quickly, but I would still like any tips or criticisms you have. I'm here to learn.

Hi Spiritsword, welcome to Drawspace. I think your drawing is interesting, but left incomplete. I think he is good stroke. I hope you scan it complete next time.

hello Spiritsword, nice to see new members in these challenges

that is a very nice sketch

if you want to improve it, just try shading a little aroud those lines, so instead of lines you will have shading.
Or just leave it and try that in your next drawing

Thanks, Mindy! I see some nice depth in the carving on that pumpkin -- good job!
I'm really happy with this challenge -- I think it's one of the best we've had in a while.

Posting the results! I apparently have to do this in multiple posts; the board software won't let me do it all in one. All the small images are links to the larger ones supplied by the artists:

Versailles appears only in RJ's montage.
I'm a little surprised we didn't see more people try to tackle the strong perspective in this one.

A wonderful week, Ernest, with so marvellous contributions! Bravos to everybody! I was absent, had my labtop with me but no possibility to draw! What a pity! May be I'll post some work later, if you accept !

Thanks for putting all those together. It's good seeing other people's versions easily. Could there be a gallery started for the challenges?
Thanks again

That's been discussed. I think the mods would like to do it, but we don't have the magic powers to make it happen ourselves.
