Thought I'd stop by whilst I have a break at work...
A bit about me...
well I live and work in the UK. I work in IT and am always looking for a creative breakout... I play guitar but I've always wanted to go back to art and never seemed to "step up to the plate" to coin a phrase. My family are my world - my wife and 3 children keep me rather busy. I have a number of reasons for wanting to draw: the main reason is my mind is over-active and the drawing I've done recently has been cathartic to say the least; given the feelings of utter peace I am able to obtain both whilst doing it and from the end result.
As for my experience with art it's limited to the work I did during school. I've always been envious of my sisters abilities with art but a recent conversation with her has made me just think get on and have a go, it's for enjoyment for me more than the end result although I'm hoping that the end results will get better with time
I'm interested in pencils in the first instance but want to broaden this as I go: pastels, charcoal, both of those I haven't tried. Who knows what then? I must admit to loving the results I've seen with watercolours... will just have to try it all I guess
Well I'm off to search the forums and lessons for tips on drawing the sea as the first larger project I want to draw is of the HMS Coventry (which - for any that are un-aware - was sunk during it's campaign in the falklands war). However I may change this to be HMS Eagle (an early aircraft carrier). Heh... I like warships think they are fine feats of engineering!
But to be completely honest this is set for month or so's time when I'm comfortable with a pencil again for now my subjects will be smaller. I'm currently working on having the confidence to work larger as most of the things I've been producing have been rather small scale... for example smaller than real life apple
Look forward to seeing you folks around.
