Hi everyone, tis my first post on this forum I have been lurking for a couple of weeks now.
As I don't take time to practice at home, I was wondering if I could use my travelling time (almost 2h a day) to do it.
My point is that you don't really have good models in buses/subways, nor do they stay in the same position for a long time.
Making life drawing pretty hard while on the go !
I was wondering if it could be a good idea to have a list of models, of different size, different colors, different style all classified by difficulty level. hey could even be tagged as good for training a certain aspect, like proportions, symmetry, light/shadows etc ...
Further more those images (mostly photographies I guess) could be printed in a nice format so one could bring it along, and use its left sketch book page to keep all the pictures, while working on the right page.
most of the time theory is there, but needs lot of practice, and 1 or 2 example is not sufficient.
I see you already have lotsa pictures through out the forum, one would just have to sort them into a list.
one has to be pretty good to be able to sort those pictures as to see the important point in each picture to workout.
Moreover beginners could start with smaller models, in resolution, to focus on important points, whereas intermediate will be able to handle bigger image composition, as for advanced etc ...
this could build a very interesting library !
well, I throw this idea out, hoping somoneone would hear it !
have a very nice day everyone.
Remi.

Hi Remi, thanks for posting your idea and it is a good one.
In the Inspirational Gallery, there are a number of photographs that members have posted which can be used to draw from, but not a lot of images of people unfortunately.
I would like to encourage people to post a variety of copyright free images of different subjects. I have already made a suggestion that the gallery images be posted under different headings so that people can easily find the type of image that they want.
Drawing from life is good too, but I know the problems of drawing on trains, etc, as people do get on or off and move around. I'll see what images I have that I can post here and hopefully others will as well so that you can print some off to use for references when you draw.
I'll also mention to admin about categorizing the current gallery of images so different subjects may be found more easily. You can also follow some links to other free image sites to see if they have something that you like. If you have a look through the posts in the General Discussion, you will find a reference to some of those sites.

Good Idea - categorizing the gallery.

I think someone, maybe it was you, posted this link before, but here is another sorce of photos. I am not sure how organized these are, but I do know you can use the search feature on the first page to find specific types of photos. Like faces or people.

Hmmm, we're getting a lot of stickys here but I wonder if we can have one for reference photo links? Something that people can add to when they run across a good one.

I posted this thread awhile back but its not a sticky. Its a list of sources of reference material which can be added to if people need it.
I can pin it up if people want.

That's up to you & Brenda, of course. I don't know how many people have favorite photo sites but I can add a couple more & am off to do that!
