Jim I love your cards! Wolfman is very cool! I'm curious too - how do you get the fine detail in them? I have to use a magnifying lamp sometimes, and occasionally will still miss a line. Middle age is a drag.

Thanks for your compliments. I too have some extra challenges with the middle age thing (eyesight was perfect until I turned 40). The nice thing about doing artwork on the cards is that they are small, the bad thing about them is that they are small

I used a mechanical pencil on most of the cards (fine tip, no sharpening)

Well at least you were lucky for your eyesight, I need glasses to see from far since I was in grade 10 so about 15

I wear contacts now, I can see fine from close though. My boyfriend needs his glasses his eye sight is much worse than mine.
I'm at card number 5 I wanted to continue tonight but I had to work later at work because someone called in sick and then when I got home I had to fill out all these questions because I applied for a job in what I just graduated for and I really want this job. It so long to do those questions, I just finished now.
ncgirl
Nov 3 2009, 02:55 PM
Roxy good luck on the job - hope you get it! It is a pain to answer all those questions, isn't it! I'm trying to get back on with the government - they want ALL your life history back to birth, and in some cases what you did before you reincarnated.

That would be a good ATC theme: What were you in your previous lives? (mine would be Amazon warrior, Shakespearean actor, Egyptian goddess and a cat.)
I have 3 more cards to do - if I get time during lunch today I should get at least one done. It's so nice outside today, I'll sit at the picnic table to draw!

Thanks! Well they called me today and the girl remembered me from my coop and she even remembered who I was sitting with lol So this morning I had a phone interview and I think it went pretty well I thought I did much better on the phone then I usually do in person. She said she was gonna pass it on to the hiring manager and that if i'd get called it would be for an interview Thursday afternoon (cause I told her I was available that day) so omg i'm so excited I think she'll call me.

Fingers crossed
Roxy! What firld is it that you will be working in (notice I am being positive

)
Jim, that is a great Fester - I loved Jacky Coogan in that role.
I have been slower than I expected getting the last card done. Between the heat sapping my energy (getting into Summer temps here already, and fire season has started with a bang!) and the trips to the hospital for family members, well, I hope to finish the last one tonight when it cools a bit and then get them posted tomorrow (fingers - crossed)
ncgirl
Nov 4 2009, 02:36 PM
Sue I hope family gets better soon and back home - hospitals are no fun! Try to stay cool in the meantime - I remember last year the fires over there were just terrible, are they predicting a calmer season?
Here's one more monster from me. He's supposed to be holding a happy face, and i was going to title it "Put on a Happy Face". But, everyone that's seen him thinks he is a monkey. So I present "Put on a Happy Monkey Face". I'll learn to draw someday.

I don't have anything to do tonight so I think i'll continue on my cards. I had absolutely no time yesterday I went to see Metallica I don't know if you all know who they are lol.
And I have an interview tomorrow at 2pm!
Sue, its in tourism and travel, that's what I went to school for and I did my coop in April over there but they didn't have any positions open and now they do. It would be for American Express and it's a call center so people from the government would be calling me to help them book their business trips and stuff like that.
ncgirl
Nov 5 2009, 01:53 PM
Metallica... hmmmm.... are they anything like the Monkees?

I've heard of them a time or two.
Good luck again on your interview. Just be yourself, don't be nervous. Everybody says you have to act a certain way at an interview, say the right things. Never worked for me. The jobs I got were the ones that I just talked and acted naturally.

Click to view attachmentSandra, no-one is in hospital at the moment, its just that there are a lot of outpatient appointments and tests being done, and I am usually chauffeur. I figure that we will eventually all get sorted out, but getting older sucks big time when a little change on a blood test prompts all the "better than being sorry" tests that make you worry until you have the all clear.....oops! 5 more gray hairs overnight

I actually do. I have a spider living in my front door in the door knocker and I won't even go out that door. I told my husband to kill it and he refuses. Can't stand bugs at all but spiders are the worst.

Sorry to hear of your knee, Shadow! Hang in there! Medical problems is definitely a valid reason for being late finishing an ATC trade. Take your time and get better soon!
I received 3 cards in the last few days:
"The wolfman" from Jim - WOW did you sketch it from your imagination? Very good details and proportions, Nice work on background.
"Cookie Monster" from Katdyd, I love the effect of the Graphitint pencils, I actually have a small set of them but haven't experimented much yet.
A very colorful monster from Frithy: It reminds me of one of the characters from the new movie "9" (little post-apocolyptic AI guys with a human soul who must bring down the big bad machine in order for "life" to ever have a chance again.) Love the watercolored background!

Nov 8 2009, 07:28 AM
Cheri, you are safe.........I just checked and the spider isn't in your envelope (not in yours either
Roxy)
Angie, with a bit of luck they'll have you in & out in no time - should be a scope job and usually you are only in overnight. Remember as long as you do the right things afterwards there is no reason that you shouldn't be doing things normally quite quickly just like the sports stars after their knee ops. Fingers crossed for you.
The Monsters seem to be travelling well - I hope they are all behaving themselves when they get to their new homes!

Nov 8 2009, 04:51 PM
I have a mailbox full of monsters!!!
Thank you katdyd - "Chewy" is wonderfully cute and scary - I will have to keep him away from the dinner table - he may eat everything! And from Frithy - what a colorful monster - he has a nice southwest native look to him - it reminds me of my old home! Thanks!
We usually have very large garden spiders here, but haven't seen too many this year. They make huge webs and in the middle there's a zig-zag pattern. The old folks here say if the spiders write your name in their web you will die - huh - I think I probably would! Most spiders are harmless though and very beneficial - I've read several Native American stories where they bring good luck. I try not to kill them, but will get a broom and move them if they take up residence at the front door.

And I also got Sandra's gorgeous green monster - I think he will be like Sully from Monsters Inc........a great big softie!

Haven't posted for a while. My computer had some spyware problems.
I received some more cards.
Sandra's "Monster Eyes" reminded me of a trip freinds and I took through an underground canal as a kid (1/4 mile long, pitch black when the flashlights were off, and the batteries were going dead 1/2 way through!)
Frithy's wet on wet background gave her monster a tie dyed look. Very cool!
Katydyd, your monster could be an illustration for Gollum as told by Dr. Suess
Roxanne, Congrats on your job! I get migraines also. (misery loves company?) Horrible curse! I have finally found some of the triggers (chocolate :-( and lack of sleep ) I have found that Imitrex and Maxalt are miracle drugs.
