This is a German term, which refers to poor quality art, usually cheap imitations of fine art and genuine art. Also by extrapolation it is used for pop culture items of all kind like plastic flowers and fruit, etc.
There are studies in kitsch art that you might find if you gooogle the term. Most of the talk is done in esthetics which is a branch of philosophy that deals with art creation processes.

thanks Elena, I meanwhile searched it in google and found the explanation. I remember very vagely about this in school in grade 12
Thanks again wink.gif

You are welcome, Clara.
An example of kitsch at the cultural scale is the panorama of hotels and buildings you can find in Las Vegas, in the image of Paris, Venice, Egypt monuments and environments.

Good explanation Elena - I was going to use those terrible clown pictures as an example of Kitsch. It is usually something that makes you cringe - although it appears to be changing meaning a little and some people refer to 1950's items such as lava lamps and even some Eames furniture as kitsch. Language is always evolving isn't it!

Clara, I am glad you finished your homework rolleyes.gif ;what i forgot to mention is that these terms are left in the original language(kitsch, trompe l'oeil, chiaroscuro, etc)But you probably know that. The explanation is just for you and for her to be prepared to answer questions or recognize the meaning.
Kaly
Yes Elena we both new that, but thanks anyway wink.gif
