So - I've decided to join this... it should be fun as long as everyone doesn't mind getting crummy Christmas presents from me! biggrin.gif

... and here's my wish list:

- a flying swallow
- a pair of comfortable but stylish brown shoes
- a set of best quality coloured pencils and the finest sketch paper
- a fishing trip in the North Pacific complete with orca sightings
- a pair of emerald earrings

.... not necessarily all of them and not necessarily in that order biggrin.gif
IslanderNL
I'm so pleased that you've decided to join in Rose. Your drawing skills are excellent and the person who has you as a Secret Santa will be very happy I am sure.
Brian David Dekter

Well, I guess I could think of a bazillion things or three... ahem...

a roman statue
a water fountain
a flower
a book
art stuff
a telescope
any thing that is a surprise because I love surprises, they are the best gifts tongue.gif
kim1963
surprise so this means if I choose your name its anything goes ? lol
Cyn
Ha Ha Kim, with your sense of humor, I should be careful what I ask Santa for. I may regret this later, but yes, anything goes. How easy is that for Christmas? laugh.gif
Chalktalk
What fun; please sign me up. I'd love to be a Secret Santa. ph34r.gif

Hmmm...okay now the dilemma of what I want....

Any of the following (given in no particular order):

a tiger or other type of large cat
a closeup of a face
a dragon
something from Ancient Egypt
or artwork done on a black background

I prefer realistic drawing, perspective plays, or interesting abstracts.

That said...I'm really not picky. laugh.gif
IslanderNL
Welcome Chalktalk! Its wonderful that you've decided to take part in this thread. That brings it up to 16 people!

It just wouldn't be the same without you Cyn. So glad you'll be taking part. smile.gif
racedolls

I'd like to bump up the time frame for the registration to end on this so it will give people a little more drawing time.

So REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS TOMORROW DECEMBER 12th. On the 13th Santa's helpers will be busy and will PM each of you to tell you who you will be drawing for.

When you receive the name of the person, go through this thread and see what is on their list, choose something and draw it.

DO NOT POST YOUR DRAWING ON THIS THREAD!!!

PM it back to your assigned 'Santa' - the person you received the name from. On December 22nd all drawings should be sent to your assigned Santa and on the 23rd, you will sent you virtual gift. After that the fun begins and you can start messaging people to find out who drew your gift. Once you've found out, you may post your gift and let us know who drew it for you.
painter48
Wooooo - Hoooooo - Christmas is closer than you think. I think it will be harder finding a Secret Santa than it would be doing the challenges. There are so many good artists it will be hard to figure it out. ohmy.gif

IslanderNL
Clear out your PM spaces ladies and gentlemen. Starting Dec 23rd the PMs will be flying! smile.gif
Markita
I am still in on the secret santa , I know I have been away but I will check in once a day .
kim1963
So now let me get this straight ... will we be emailed the name we got for the gift ?

Jeanette what do you mean pm spaces ??? and how do you clean one lol
Sickfish
Sorry - only just noticed this thread so I'm going to take advantage of my 8-hour head-start on the the US and say, "yes please!". I'll be happy to draw something ... although I hope I get an interesting recipient. I'll be honest - I've never been a big fan of still life. It's soooo..... well.... still!

Seriously though - I always wanted...

A pet dragon with a santa hat
My very own luxury evil-genius castle (heavy on the genius, with a side helping of evil)
A pet koweagle (which, as everyone knows, is a cross between a Koala and an Eagle)
A pocket-sized elephant. (I'd hug him and hold him and call him, "George")
I keep fish - so any fish picture is welcome
I also keep Axolotls...

Okay - hopefully my list is varied enough. As you can see I think drawing gives us the opportunity to make life a little less ordinary. wink.gif
racedolls
kim-- you will get pm(personal message) the name of the person you will be drawing a gift for. then you look on this thread to see what is on that person's wish list and draw it and then pm it to me or jeanette, whichever is your secret santa. then on the 23rd me and jeanette will send everyone there drawing gifts from there secret person and we will start pming each other to find out who drew that gift. does that make any sense?
Lori
RJS

IslanderNL
LOL I have this vision of Kim down and hands and knees, scrubbing out her PM box...smile.gif I believe you have a limit of 50 messages you can keep so a little space is always useful...

Welcome Sickfish, you're on! Now how about one more to even up our numbers? You have to the end of the day (well, my day anyway smile.gif) to sign up.

LOL, RJS, NO SIGNING DRAWINGS!!! LOL You guys have me laughing to myself at work here this morning. Stop, people will think I like my job or something!:)

kim1963
Well i am relieved here I was not clean on the cleaning out of mt pm box .. I was thinking to myself ....pm box ... i dont remember a thread asking us to make one lol ....but it is crystal clear now lol .

Farfallina
biggrin.gif biggrin.gif This is too funny!!! laugh.gif

I have one question though - I do not see the option of sending attachments with a PM... so do we email our drawings? ... or is there a ways of sending attachment that I have missed? unsure.gif
IslanderNL
To attach your image in a private message, you need to use an external imaging program. I use Photobucket http://photobucket.com/ Its very simple and quick to use. Just register (Free) then add the url of your image into the image section of your private message. (that little button with the tree on it in the task bar here)

Of course if anyone feels more comfortable emailing their image to me, they are more than welcome to do that as well if I am your Santa's helper.

By now everyone should have the name of someone that they will draw for. Because we have an uneven number of people registered, one person will receive TWO virtual gifts and one person will draw for TWO people!

You'll just have to wait and see who....ho ho ho
Sickfish
That work is soooo beautiful, Jeanette. It's almost easy to believe it wasn't drawn at all - the fur and eyes are amazing - heck, it's all amazing!!!!

I can only aspire to such mastery of coloured pencils. *sigh*.

I love them so much too. smile.gif
IslanderNL
Thanks Sickfish. Animals are what I love doing most of all. The rest just comes along for the ride. smile.gif

This has taken 30 years of practice. Keep practicing, you'll be there in no time.

Just like this... Voila! This is a coloured pencil drawing of a golden retriever that I did for a dog show a couple of months back or the very nearly finished version of it anyway. smile.gif

Pssssssstttttt Jeanette if 13 people are drawing including Santas helpers...like putting names in a hat...how will someone recieve 2? since 13 names and 13 people drawing.... hmmmmm or did the board addle my brain also laugh.gif
kim1963
your dog is awsome jeanette smile.gif
IslanderNL
Pammy, there are 17 people taking part. Each person must draw for someone and have someone draw for them. That leaves one person without a partner. As a result one person will draw for their partner plus one other person (the spare). To balance the numbers, one other person will receive two drawings.

Does that make sense? It all works out in the end....smile.gif

Thanks Kim.
racedolls
i know jeanette does awesome work doesnt she. and now that i am trying out the color pencils i see all or most of the layers where i didnt see that before. awesome
Lori
Farfallina
Thank you Jeanette. I am quite familiar with Photobucket and ImageShack. I used them all the time on another Message Board I was a member of... in fact that is the only way we ever posted pictures.. we very rarely used attachments. Lovely dog!! smile.gif

... and Oh La La! I hope the person I got is not hard to please! wink.gif
kim1963

Markita, Jeanette explained how this can be done in this post..

Creating an account in Photobucket or ImageShack is free.
IslanderNL
If anyone cannot/doesn't want to attach an image to their PM, you can email your image to me. The link for my email is available when you pull up my profile. Or PM me directly and I will provide it.
racedolls
same goes for me--pm me and i will give you my email address.

So, in between making pastry and fillings and baking pies I finished my Secret Santa present! ..s'ok I got no flour on it! biggrin.gif
IslanderNL
Way to go Rose! I have one secret santa drawing done, but I'm doing another for a different art forum. I still have to bake and decorate and draw and draw and bake and decorate....arrrrrghhhhhhh smile.gif
racedolls
dont forget to pass out your turkeys too jeanette!!! do you think you have enough to do or do you want me to make you a list of more!!! hahaha!
Lori
Venus
tongue.gif LOL Jeanette...I did the baking thing today...I have been wrapping on and off for days and still not even halfway done!!! Try wrapping presents for 4 kids!!!!!! Its never ending...The best presents I bought though were the kids art supplies...imagine, they want to be artist just like me. blush.gif Their art supplies and drawing books were at the top of their list so I couldn't resist going to the book store to find learning drawing books for children. My heart just melted. wub.gif Hopefull soon I can work in my secret santa picture...so many present to wrap........................................................................ huh.gif
IslanderNL
Oh yeah, another list of more things to do. How about you come over and help me instead Lori? lol Turkeys have all gone to their new homes smile.gif I got some decorating done. Lights in the windows and my nutcracker soldiers and bears on display. I baked mince pies and shortbread and cherry cake, which I will have to hide or my husband will have eaten them all before Christmas!

I've done some wrapping but not as much as you have to do Venus. I can only imagine the fun at your house on Christmas morning with 4 children diving into presents. You'll have to share that experience with us. smile.gif

I know they'll love their art supplies and you'll have a wonderful time showing them how to use them too.
Chalktalk
Oh great, make me feel guilty. Guess I better put up the tree now, eh? blush.gif
Laura01

Merry Christmas!!!
Laura
IslanderNL
I have mine more or less done, just a little more tweaking- I've done one for another forum too....yeah glutton for punishment smile.gif Can't wait to see them all!!
