I have a new twist on an old suggestion (four of them).

Create a Download section, for members, which allows as detailed of a download of the pdf's as the user would like.

Check next to All...A, B, C...A01, A02, A03...whichever the person desires.

That means that the user can download all pdf's, whichever section(s) they want or even an individual lesson(s) in a section(s).

I take my laptop with me everywhere. When I say everywhere, I mean EVERYWHERE. The Internet isn't always available. It seems like it would convenience a lot of individuals, based off of views alone on those four previous suggestions, to create a download area for members.

It is just as cumbersome to go to each page and view, than it is to sort through the fully downloaded files and remove the ones you don't want.

Take part in the poll above. Hopefully it will influence some of the website administrators/moderators. Feel free to post what you think about a Download section. Let's hear your thoughts.

Hi Ken,

The main reason why we haven't done this yet is simply because the extra traffic it would incur would melt our servers. smile.gif

For every person like yourself who has a legitmate need to download and tote around dozens of lessons at once, there are twenty who would see the "Download All Lessons" feature and hit it for no other reason than to simply say they have them. That might sound like an odd statement at face value, but both formal and informal studies of P2P networks suggest that this is the case. The availability of free digital media seems cause some sort of primal hoarding instinct to kick in, but the downloaded files will often just sit around collecting dust on the user's hard drive. This is an expensive situation for us, both in terms of bandwidth costs and poor site performance.

That's not to say that someday we won't introduce a BitTorrent-based solution for this issue, or leverage other low-cost hosting technologies (like Google Apps) to make the lessons available in a more convenient format for our users. At the moment we're hard at work on a big new addition to Drawspace that is eating up most of our development time, but we are definitely aware that this is an issue for some users.
