ROFLMAO - Pammy - that's too funny! I invision 17 people at their computers, scurrying to see their Secret Santa Gift and trying to find out who it is.
Do you hear what I hear? ................................the sound of keyboards tapping. hahahaha
Maybe we'll all get another good story from Pammy when this is over? She tells them so well.

I wish to share our weather with you!!

We had a brief but pretty harsh hailstorm this morning and I took a little video clip of it with my digicam. Pity I can't zoom in with it - the sea was dancing as the large hailstones pounded into it.
The voice in the background is mine.

I'm speaking English because my son's girlfriend is English and so we speak her language out of courtesy. We had to cut the clip short because the hail was coming in and my son wanted to close the window since right beneath it is my husband's collection of CDs!!
Click here to watch the video.
A very Merry Christmas to everyone - may you be surrounded by family and friends and may the warmth and joy of the season fill your hearts.

Well Rose I am sure the storm was great but for some reason it isn't showing up and there is a red x in the spot of trying to click it which means it isn't available. I want to wish you and your family and friends the same.
Merry Christmas, Everyone!!! Happy New Year's, too!!!!

I don't know why that is happening Venus. The link does work for me.
Maybe you could try copying the following into your browser and that might work better for you.

Quite the hailstorm Rose. I'd hate to be out in it...that would hurt! Isn't the video on digital cameras great?
Here's a little thing I found linked on a friend's blog. I think you'll enjoy it and the results go to a good cause.

Kim,
I am down by detroit, in Ontario. This is a bit warm but we never have a clue whether or not we will get snow for Christmas. All though it usually stays closer to freezing. We are going to visit my cousins up near Traverse City. We are really hoping they will have snow. We want to go sledding and snow mobiling.

WHY do men insist on being such MEN! I don't get it.....I put heart and soul into a project only to have Mr. Fix-it tell me about ALL the negative things. I've never hidden my art but OMG I think I am about to start. We need a crying smiley!
I had to edit this because I forgot to post the dang picture! Grrrrrrrrrr what did he expect from a bic, cheap metallic gold, and a purple pilot pen? OH did I mention the pic is done on a sheet of acid free scrapbook paper?

I'm sorry you had some negative feedback on your project, Pammy. Was it from someone here or someone in your rl? While my husband is very supportive, he will tell me if he doesn't like something but I know it's not done maliciously. Perhaps that's what your critic meant - to help you but just went about it in the wrong way.
I'm at work with nothing to do and there are only 3 people in the office today! The plant is fully staffed but I rarely see anyone out there. Wish I'd brought my pencils and some decent paper but I didn't think about it. I figured the phone would be ringing off the hook but it's even quiet!
Well, will see if I can find some of the objects on Jeanette's drawing from life list even if I will have to use copier paper for them! lol The hard part will be finding some kind of a pencil! Imagine! Offices no longer use pencils!
Hang in there Pammy!
J
PS - Saw your edit after I posted the above - now, what's so wrong with your drawing? I think it's good. It would be good even if you hadn't used the pens you talked about!

Thanks Ladies. It helped put it in perspective. It is just a tad rough to have a simple drawing torn apart before coffee. Especially since I don't usually do Ink at all. Ink scares me

because once it's there..it's there. LOL and I was checking email etc at the time...so poof posted here LOL.
I guess the important thing is my neice LOVED it.

OMG I just saw the Nutcracker with the Grand ballet And it was awsome, I will stech some drawings of the costumes and post them here when I go home(my boyfriend doesnt have a scanner) i LOVE the sugar plum faerie, her costume was yellow plum and orange. If you have the grand ballet comming to you, go see it, its soooo worth it.. Or if ever you come to montreal on a whim of boredom.. msg me and I will be the first to go see it again... it is bad at my age to se the nutcracker and feel exited like a kid??
You know what made my experience more enjoyable, there was children all around, and they were enjoying this, hearing them gasp evertyime when something changes or something emoional that happens, I dont know.. What do you guys think?

Pammy,
I'm imagining that "Mr. Fixi-it" is BF? Well, anyway... it seems harder for us as human beings to take critique from someone we are close to. Especially when we put so much of ourselves into each piece...our art is very personal to us...I mean we wouldn't walk up to a new parent and say,"You have an ugly baby!!!"...they'ld probably punch you in the nose...hehehe We feel the same about our art!
Pen and ink is very hard and for a first you've done a great job, but as in every work we do there will be mistakes and things that turned out better than we expect...it is all a learning experience...ink is just like wood burning you can only camoflauge the mistakes and take what you've learned to the next project.
The next time "Mr.Fix-it" offers advice on what to fix...When he's finished ask him to tell you something good about it as well. This is the rule I use for critique..."a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down".
Keep in mind that he sounds like he only wants to see your work improve...perhaps he just doesn't know how to offer the advice in a way that would be more helpful!

I'm sorry you didn't have the positive response you hoped for Pammy. Sometimes people don't understand the personal impact words have when it comes to art.
I'm with Laura on this. To provide critique it is necessary to see the good with the bad. Your pen and ink work looks good to me. Its a strong drawing with that characature feeling that works well.
Ink really is more forgiving than most people think but it is a bit like watercolour in that it makes you think before you put down the next stroke.

see I dont like asking my husband because he says everything I do is just great .. when I know not everything is .. I do like to be told that I need to fix something ... because just being here the short time i have i have improved a great deal ...and its because of your honesty ...its not that my husband is not being honest .. I think he really does like my work .. but even my daughter can come in and say .. well for you mom I think you should change this .. or that

LOL Kim I know what you mean. For the most part though if Brian does pay attention to my art he either tells me I am improving or that I need to fix this or that or this doesn't match the other side. It actually ticks me off. I don't know why...maybe because normally he doesn't pay attention and lately he has been. I like to be left totally along when I am working on something and unless I ask for an opinion I don't want to hear any. I guess that is why I never post alot of my drawings or participate in the critique thread unless I am commenting on someone elses work.
Speaking of hubby's I hope yours is doing alot better??? I am sure everytime he has a problem it scares you to death I know I would be. We have still been dealing with sickness in our home. It seems like everyone in the neighborhood has the flu of some sort. So its one sick hubby or child after another!!! I haven't been (knocking on wood). The baby has a nasty cold and was throwing up last night. So needless to say I barely got any sleep.
Anyways I hope all at Drawspace are well and enjoying their Holiday Season!!! Happy New Year's Everyone!!!

Kim,
I'm sorry to hear your husband is sick. I hope he is doing better by now.
Venus,
It sure drags when everyone gets sick one at a time. It seems like you're stuck in the house for ever.
What is everyone doing for new years eve? We are headed to northern Michigan to visit relatives... if I can get everyone packed. The clothes is all washed, the dog is clean, the kids tidied their bedrooms, now all they have to do is pack. It should only take a year or two! Anyways we will head out tomorrow morning early.
I wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEARS! I hope you have fun with whatever you do.

Paulette...I hope you had a great time up north!!! I did not but sit on my butt tonight for New Year's. Not that I am much fun to go out with anyways. I don't drink so I usually get stuck being the designated driver. Most of my friends stayed home tonight anyways. Or had to work. Hope everyone had a great time.

Darus, you had the right idea for New Year's eve! I was playing with the InkTense pencils last night (NYE) but don't have any paper that's really suitable. So finally gave up and went to bed about our regular time! lol Woke up about 11:45 & thought about staying up to welcome in the New Year but decided my nice warm bed was too appealing!
Paulette, hope you're having a good time in Michigan! How long will you be gone?
Venus, it's been a long time since I thought getting out with a bunch of drunks on New Years Eve was any fun! You were probably wise to stay home! And I know you're wise not to drink - just think of all the stuff you learn when you're the designated driver & everyone else is tipsy! lol
Today my granddaughter arrived from college & I think we're planning on going shopping tomorrow! My daughter will drive & we'll go to Raleigh where there are a lot of art stores! Now, if I can only get her to let me stop at them! Fortunately, my granddaughter has some interest in art so maybe she'll help persuade my daughter! lol Or maybe we'll go to a shopping center that has an art store or two & they can go shop for clothes & I can at least get some good paper! Wish me luck! And have a great New Year everyone!

Happy New Year Everyone!
I'm back, all our party stuff happens at relatives houses. My cousins light canons at midnight. This year they did six of them. We play games, eat and drink. I'm not much of a drinker either so I am often the driver also. This year I don't think anyone did anything but social drinking, which is kind of nice. We stayed with my cousin on her farm. Jeanette you would love her, she has ducks, geese, about six different kinds of chickens and two horses. The kids had a riot playing in the barn and holding the chickens. Even Bob my great dane had a lot of fun. He ran around like a spring chicken himself. I expect he'll sleep for about three days now that we are home.
