So a friend of mine once told me that drawing eggs was a very good way to help your eye look at value. Today as I was sketching the weekly challenge I came to the realization that I really need to practice my value and shading. So I took out my web cam and took some pictures of some eggs. (Well... an egg).

I though I would share the pictures just in case anyone else is interested. These images were taken by me and are released into the public domain.

The images have been Desaturated, normalized, and some of them had the contrast tweaked a little to try to give a consistency in range of values.

Hope you have fun. Perhaps if someone has a real camera and some other interesting shapes we could get some other value study images. I would love some white sheets and curtains.

Thanks! I like to draw flowers (sans photos) and I find that folded fabric studies real help get the feel right...

This flower (which I later added a leaf too which really was a mistake) was inspired by curtains... not the best one I have ever done and the round splotches are water damage but I really liked it right up until that stupid leaf!
