Here's the definition of sequential design.

The course is based on the students’ work and their practical projects. The course has been conceived and designed primarily to support these individual projects and to develop an informed, critical and imaginative attitude to the professional practice of the subject.
Throughout the course we explore the serial devices and techniques that determine the way a viewer can best experience a succession of designed images. This involves the need to understand the relationships that well-organised consecutive images can have to one another. Students will also be encouraged to appreciate the wider cultural influences associated with the subject.
The ordering and structuring of the consecutive pages in a textbook, picture book, story book or magazine; the planning of an animated sequence; the making of films; the navigation for a CD Rom or website; the designing of a journey through a building, exhibition or the successive sets for a theatrical event - these are all creative activities which require the same principles and deploy the skills of designers, illustrators and makers.
The sequencing of images involves consideration of, for example: the effects of repetition and consistency, change and contrast; the elements of anticipation, surprise and suspense; timing, pace, rhythm and flow; pause and rest; reprise, reflection and flashback; gesture and expression; the placing of visual elements; the sustaining of interest through a sequence.

I'm not quite sure what you don't understand in this site Ukartist. Painter48 has given you the definition based on the course information.

Sequential design is simply creating something where one section follows another, such as a book or film. Do you have a specific question about what you don't understand in this and we can try to help more? smile.gif
