Hi all,
welcome to Snoopy 101 Toy Storey challenge, my name is Brian David your host and curator of Snoopy 101. Although I am no expert on this.....
The Draftsman animator completes their drawings on cells, transparent acetate sheets. Opaque inks, paints, applied with a variety of specialist markers, crayons, and litho pencils are the most common media for drawing cartoon ''storey boards". The basic process revolves around a series of one panel sketches and can be extremely labour intensive. The average short cartoon may requires 40-50,000 frames or drawings.
Since the 90's, however computer created animation incorporating sophisticated graphics software has become increasingly dominant. A perfect example of this is John Lasseter's "Toy Storey" the very first feature film created totally by computer animation. The film features the voices of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen and the plot followes a cowboy doll " Sheriff Woody" who gets jealous of an astronaut action figure "Buss Light year" who becomes the favorite of their owner.
My Challenge
Simply draw one of the references I have provided below by the original artists, for the purpose of this challenge, I have found some non-computer animation references and ask that all drawings be hand drawn. You may use your computer or programs for color or text, but please post your original drawing first. You may also use any type of media you like or any of your own references.
I hope you all enjoy this challenge, I encourage all levels of skill to participate.
Happy drawings,
Brian.
