Many artists struggle unnecessarily for years to create a full range of values with only one or two pencils, totally unaware of how pencils themselves can create different values. In this lesson, you create the illusion of depth in a mountain range, by using various grades of pencils. You will also utilize two components of perspective, overlapping and atmospheric perspective.

Wow this is another great lesson. My full range of values did not work out, because I had some hatching lines too far apart and the pressure applied to the pencil was varying. Sometime latter I will practice, practice and practice.
I was confused with the wording on page 2, It says 2H is the lightest(hardest), I thought 5H was, with the selected choices in the lesson.

I was procrastinating over this lesson, but I'm glad I did it. It was useful to try to create different values. Also, it was fun to use all my drawing pencils.

:)Thank you for this well-thought-out lesson on using various H & B pencils to create this mountain range. It looks like a wonderful lesson. I plan to go out and purchase the various pencils required to do this lesson. It looks like fun and very valuable.

I see this as a useful lesson but I still like squirkling much better, even though it's more time consuming.

I like this lessons, I wish I could do it but I don't have all the different shades of pencils.
I only have: 2h, hb, 3b, 6b, h, 5b, 4h, 2b,
I think its a good lessons because yes it a drawings but it also shows the different values in the pencils how they go from light to dark.

Great lesson. In the beginning I thought it will be easy and I was wondering if its worth doing. But it was! Despite the fact I didn't have all the necessary pencils (my range 1H to 9B) I managed by separating the lines or making it more dense and presing the pencil. The trickiest part is to show the difference between dark values, and my picture doesn't show it as it should. Also my hatching lines seem to be leaning at sligtly different angles, but I only noticed it after I had finished. I think it will be worth repeating it.

Thanks, this lesson really helped me experiment with the different pencils, even though I only had 8b, 7b, 6b, 5b, 4b, 3b, 2b, b, hb, f, h and 2h it still worked out OK, although some of the lighter ones look a bit the same.

Another great lesson came from the ocean of the knowledge.. Pencil art is just amazing type of drawing. It seems so realistic.
It is special art which is hidden in artists.. For getting best results in pencil work the one has to do lot of practice..
