Well I had the day off today and I am down to number 14, one more to go. I can't upload the cards , so please post them when you recieve them. Does anybody know how to make the card smaller so the picture is not to big to upload?
Frithy
Hi Frithy, you can look at these instructions for an online image resizer.

The tattoos have slowed down due to winter here ...it will pick back up I am sure ...I am picky as to what I will tattoo on a person so my business is very limited ...I will not tattoo something I feel is wrong or gang related or cartoon sexual ....its not my style ...no shop would ever hire me because I am so limited

a big part of my business is dancers at the local clubs ..because I am a girl they feel better with me doing them .

I have watched some of those tattoo shows on tv. Interesting what you can put on skin. I really like the portraits that Kat does. I'm glad I don't have to see the needles as I am scared petrified by needles.
I have 6 done so far and scanned together. I may post them on my blog like Paulette does and if anyone wants to peek, they can. I will probably mail them all at once.

Hi Jeanne,
I have seen your blog, and your work is beautiful! I wish I could draw in colour as you do!
These last three days I've been working on my cards. I have done eight, so far. However, not all of them are usable. A couple of them were done twice using different media (ink versus graphite, or black versus brown ink) to try different effects, and two others are not so good. So may be I have four "sendable" cards.
I'll try to do at least four more good ones during the week end.
Have a nice day.

Well, I've 'finished' 14. They look OK to me just now, but I'll leave them a couple of days and have another look - what looks fine today can look rubbish the next time I look. If they're OK, I'll scan them all and get the envelopes ready. As a matter of interest, how much does it cost to mail within US as I'll be there at the end of the month - I might be able to save!! - I don't come from Scotland without being mean!

mumwond stamps here are 42 cents I believe for 1 ounce. I mail my cards in semi hard plastic sleeves and just have to use one stamp.

Thanks Jeanne. It probably would be worth while waiting to post them over there - I'll see how I feel. That's about half the cost from here.

Three completed so far and I'm happy with the outcome. I'm trying some new mediums. I guess that's what this is all about. I think I need to do some man stuff now. All these flowers are bringing out my feminine side. I wonder if Oprah is on..................

I'm so proud of me .. you all have no idea what a big deal this is for me .. I actually did Flowers !!! well a couple were Cacti had to think about the guys in the group ..I like flowers mind you but putting them to paper ? nuther story..
Got them scanned and envelopes addressed.. Question.. before I seal anything up,,,how do you send them package wise.. in a sleeve I saw someone say ?? is there a special envelope .. ??
Mindy__
Jan 11 2009, 04:51 PM
In the past I've noticed some people put it into a protective plastic sleeve, like for baseball cards. I'm just improvising, making a sleeve from index cards to tuck it in so it doesn't get smudged in the envelope.
I'm also using this trade to experiment a lot with various mediums, so my cards all look totally different. Although I think I've determined watercolor pencils are best for "flowery" colors. I have 5 done, with only one casualty so far...

Wow, I really started something here! The Sabres game last night and the NFL playoffs have brought me back to the proper frame of mind.
To be honest, I do some of my art at work. The guys I work with like the portraits I do, but if they see me doing flowers, I'm in for a lot of trouble around the old watercooler!
I should be okay for now but after I get to flowers 10-14, I might need counseling.

You "macho" guys should be a comedy team. I have been laughing all morning. Even gave my hubby a chuckle or twol I think he was having some sympathy pains.
Tommy is probably so glad of the company. He has been our lone mail thru most of the swaps. Nice to have some more men join. Just too bad you all picked the flower theme. lol Maybe we will have something more macho for the next trade.

Week-end has been quite productive for me. I have been using pen and ink for the last months, but I found that it is not the best media for flowers. So I changed to graphite and I managed to draw four baobab trees and four flowers (that really seem like flowers!). So I have eight nice cards by now.
Unfortunately with all this activity, I wasn't able to go to the manicure to have my nails done or my hair dyed!!! .... Ohh that's terrible!!!

Hi, everybody!
Well, I finally finished! I'm very happy: my flowers
do look like flowers and the trees ... well they look like tall and quite robust flowers, but they all seem to belong to the vegetable kingdom ...
I fixed them yesterday (almost all done in graphite) and I will try to scan them on friday at the University (as my home scanner doesn't render good quality pictures).
Jeanne, a netiquette question: should I post an image of my cards, or should I wait untill everybody receive theirs?
Have a good day!
