I like your version better - it's clearer. I use a very old bottle of fixative for charcoal, pastels and pencil(Windsor&Newton).

I find both versions very nice. Sveta's is more strengthful and has more character. Ken's is more subtle and he has rendered the sand and the sea very delicate.
Congratulations to you both.

Bravos, you all draw beautifully!
As for recent contributions on the beach scene, I too like both versions. Each has its own beauty. I also want to congratulate Sveta17 and Ken, and CoachKWL for this very nice weekly challenge.

Thank You! It's been fun hosting. I won't be around on Friday but I hope to add a few more of my attempts on Saturday.

Sadly I was really short in time thus I didn't had time to finish the left part :'(

I tried the statue with 2B and 4B graphite.

Decided to give the bird a try with cp. Batteries are dead in the camera so I am just scanning this one.

Here's is my final contibution to this week's challenge.
Another piece with the pastel chalk.
It took approx 1 hour. I'm happy with the outcome and look forward to doing some more sunset drawings.

Ken, thanks for hosting this week's challenge. It is the very first time that I participate actively, and I was very fun.
See you around.

I really didn't have a lot of time this week. I spent a couple hours on this. I think I could have done better. I'm starting to like color pencil more and more.

What do folks think?

Regards,
Gilbert

Here's my attempt at the fly.
I wanted to practice with pen. I've been using it during the flower ATC trade and liked the outcome of some of those cards.
I decided to add some color to the little pest.
Pastels with some color pencil
5x7 on smooth bristol approx 1 1/2-2 hours to complete.

This was done very well. I like the way you incorporated color.

I know I'm late, but I started this one before the deadline.

Seems the beach scene was popular so here's my version.

I always seem to get too caught up in the details, so I was making an attempt to stay away from too many, and capture the idea or the moment more than every little detail.
