You have two options of getting your artwork online. By photograph or scanning. If you take a picture of your artwork you need to have good light, preferably daylight, and even so you can edit the image with an image editor. The other option is to scan your work and edit, crop, resize, etc.
You may wish to compare the two versions to see which works for you best.

If you use a camera, try to make sure the camera is absolutely still. Use a tripod, or prop up the camera on a pile of books; and use the automatic timer to that when the shutter goes off, you're not physically touching the camera.

I scan my artwork then upload them in PNG format.

I use a DSLR then do some minor editing in PS2, point and shoots work as well, as long as you have good lighting! that i think is the key for either type of camera!

I put a stool near my patio door in the daylight hours, turn off the flash, use macro and be above the picture 12-18inches.
