Hi my name is Vicki and I am your host for this week!
All levels of drawing are encouraged to participate!
The goal of this thread is to enable and encourage individuals to practice their drawing skills, learn new techniques and have fun! If you just want to sketch that?€™s fine. If you want to create a complex, detailed drawing, that?€™s great too. You will get out of this what you want. The references used are from my own personal reference library of images that I have photographed and I release them here as not under copyright, meaning you can use them as you wish for drawing.
You will be challenged by some aspect of all references most likely as you all will have different strengths and weaknesses in your ability to translate the images to paper.
Reminder:
This is a DRAWING challenge. Therefore please confine your artistic endeavours to some form of drawing: graphite, coloured pencil, pen and ink or charcoal.
There is no ruling on what size your final drawing or sketch should be. Smaller, sketchbook sizes will provide a smaller file size which is easier for loading onto the thread.
If you would like assistance or advice, please ask for it and I will be more than willing to try to guide you.
This challenge will last for one week. At that time, all challenge drawings should be submitted to this thread.
I have offered several reference images to choose from. The images are also provided in greyscale. Seeing the images in black and white gives a better sense of basic values.
Enjoy yourselves!!

Here's another if you want to try. This is a picture (not very good as he is squinting in the sun!) of my younger brother who died at the end of November last year - hence the lack of drawing activity.

Thanks Katdyd and Vicki for commenting, i like the bird... although i think that was in last week's challenge! It is very well done! NV An you always do great work! It is lovely to be able to start a Sunday morning sketching...sets the tone for the whole week!
Vicki, I am sorry for your loss, my older brother died 2 years ago almost to the day! He had MS and had been a quadriplegic for many years, so for him his passing was an answer to his prayers, for those who loved him.. his passing left a big hole!

I've finally got some time to try my hand at some drawing challenges. I decided on the chicken shakers. ( I took some liberties with the composition)

All lovely drawings! I am always in awe of the talent that the drawing challenges showcase. I am relatively untrained... (but I like to play!) To my eye, Pujin, your work is outstanding, Sveta, I love the watercolor and Jim, you improved the original! Vicki... yes! please do have a go!

I've made one very quick watercolor of the swan but it obviously deserves much more time and effort.
I'd like to try the still life, too.

Texas-Lady and Jim, I admire your works. The portrait of Vicki's brother is fascinating, the eyes, in particular, are real challenges. I hesitate until today, and finally decide to post this pencil. I'm not a specialist of portrait from photo, really not. This is a copy, not an art work! Because I know the story, my pencil was sad. With all my sympathy, Vicki,

Just a wonderful portrait and for your first attempt .. Oh My goodness .. Very very nice !! Vicki will be so proud.. Those eyes were definably a challenge.. So good to see others with their different styles.. this is what amazes me .. we all see and draw the same picture and they all have our own touches.. ,Just had to make my comment to you..
