When I use the grid method I created several stamps in Photoshop that I layer on the photo. Depending on the size of the photo. For smaller photos I use either .5 x .5 or .25 x .25.

There was a user here a year or three ago who created such a program and I think posted it for download right in these forums; you might try searching for it here.

I found the thread Ernest was referring to : Williac's thread
I'd read through the whole thread before downloading the program, looks like he kept fixing it to meet everyone's technical needs. The first download link didn't work for me, but the second one did. It's a cool home-made program, but it looks like you'll have to resize your picture before loading it into the program...

Gimp is a free share ware. It has a built in overlay that one can customize pretty easily.

I love the idea of the grid on the screen, can download it OK, but could not get the grid size to change. The other download mentioned would not work.

Hi there mumwond,
I downloaded the overlay_maker.zip and it worked fine for me. I could resize the grid using the + and - keys on my numeric pad from very tiny to nearly the whole page. I hope it works for you......it is a nifty little programe

Just got a laptop, so no numeric pad. I've tried the + and - from top line where numbers are, but no result.

Oh Well, back to the ruler. I really don't want to spend time working out photoshop or gimp. They really don't interest me - I just like drawing.

Gimp is free! I only use it when I need to work with digital media.
