Sketching is an action word, and you can only learn this skill by actually sketching. To give you a feel for the sketching process, numerous illustrations and simple text take you step-by -step through the process of rendering a sketch from one of my sketches (much easier than working from an actual scene).

Is it like a storm?
Yeah...did u use the 4B pencil?
or something else..Um...I don't know... lol
I did F10 and it was Ok, but I love the colored pencils best. Cotton
I found this an enjoyable but difficult lesson. It's made me realize how far I still have to go in judging proportions and in getting my hatching to look good.

I have found the previous shading and hatching lessons challenging and somewhat tedious (sorry!). However, I really enjoyed this lesson, and found it much easier because of the previous lessons. My serene scene is not perfect by any means, but is not a bad replica for a beginner. I couldn't have done it as well without the previous lessons. Great lesson, thanks Brenda!

This is one of my favorites. After I drew it in pencils, I redrew it in pastels. Not perfect, but pretty

Heres what I ended up with, decided to try something different, and did the entire drawing using only dots and a mechanical pencil

I should try to see a real palm tree in my life or something. I hurried a bit in that part, as I dunno, but it came out...like a spider on a stick. Oh well!
I will probably be redoing this upon further examination of a palm tree! xD

I redid the palm tree one, and also included the Tulip lesson here, as I didn't see a thread for it, sadly. Sorry they're so big. I dunno how to work the camera well.

I really liked this lesson, one of my favourites. But I had trouble with the hatching, and with the leaves.
