Hello,
I just want to say that I think this site is great! I'm just learning how to draw (at 25 blink.gif ! Oh well, it's never too late right?). I've always wanted to learn, but spent most of my spare time with music instead of art. I am a full time student studying Mechanical Engineering Technology. I found that the topics covered in class (mostly math) have little opportunity for exercising my creativity and so I came looking for a new way to express myself. I am very happy with the progress I've made using mostly the lessons on this site, as well as some supporting reference material (I especially love the squirkles lessons!). I hope to be able learn painting soon, but am waiting until I am a little more comfortable with drawing and sketching first. Thanks to everyone who supports this site, and keep those lessons comin'!

Hi Kreative, welcome to Drawspace.

You're right, you need to learn to draw well before you can paint. Drawing is the backbone of all art and without a good foundation, you'll never have really good paintings.

Please ask if you need help in anything and we'll try our best to help you. smile.gif

What's up KreativeKat?!

We have quite a few things in common. For one thing, I am a math major and and find myself sitting at my yamaha keyboard in my spare time. (Used to play the saxophone but the poor 20 year old instrument just gave up on me man).

I find the cold hard touch of the mathematical equations and formulas void of any creativity and feeling. Well, Brenda Hoddinott and her fantastic lessons came to my rescue. I am still on the beginner B - Learn to see - section but it is going good so far. Perhaps I will add Brenda's dummies book to my desk before January ends.

So stick around, remember that the integral of the derivative of (y w.r.t x) with respect to x is equal to y + K, and remember do the lessons, preferrably on a daily basis.

Welcome Kat,
Indeed this is a proper place to be creative.
I'm an engineer but I hate math (?) so I managed to write more than I calculate. Anyway, it's all done by computers.
As for age, it's never too late to learn to draw. Pick up a pencil and be a creative, not a... fat cat biggrin.gif .
Welcome again,
Fatcat
