Hi friends,

I need your artistic help on my next drawing. I have this picture on which I started, but I've been told by my brother to crop it much more. At first I agreed but now I'm hesitant. What's your opinion (1 2 0r 3) and why?

Hi Natalie, I think # 2 is visually and compositionally more pleasing to look at.

I agree, the light on the forehead of the first distracts, but the darkness under the chin of the second only gives balance. The third looks crowded to me. biggrin.gif

Well, well, well,

everyone seems to agree here. Thanks Bobby for specifying the reason for your choice, it helps me see what you see.

I'm still hesitant though, and I guess I will be until this week-end, when I have time to work on it again. So any other comment is welcome until then.

myself I like #3 I like dramatic images and up close images to me show detail ...but with this image you cant go wrong on 1,2 or 3

I would do between 2 and 3.

If it was me, those are the two photos I would consider... then about a week later I'd go back to figure out which one to officially draw. And then go from there.

You know what? This is exactly what I was going to do! Between 2 and 3. Unless I change my mind until saturday wacko.gif

Thanks everyone. My brother will probably be sad I didn't listen to him. unsure.gif But I guess I asked you guys to get a reason to change tongue.gif Let's hope he continues criticising my work (constructively of course).

Dear Nathalie, Sorry to come late. I also rather vote for #3. Even more, I would crop a bit on the right side, to further enhance the dramatic effect of the traits. Just a suggestion! Pardon for so daring liberty !

I personally like number 3 - there is something very appealing about it that really catches my eye. Its up close, but yet your not missing out on much other than perhaps the forehead. The detail is fantastic, I think that would be a great piece.
