A host comes up with the theme for the month.

As soon as the previous trade is over, you start a new thread explaining your theme, the dates it will begin & end, and allow about 1 week for sign-ups.

As people agree to join, you'll edit your original post to add the list of participants. This is important to do on a daily basis during sign-ups so people can see how big the list is getting and have an idea how many cards will be made.

As people sign up, they need to send you (the host) their address. You'll compile the addresses as accurately as possible into one list.
At the end of the sign-up period, you'll PM everyone in the trade the entire list, including their own so they can check it for errors. If anyone spots an error in their address, they'll let you know so you can alert everyone to the change.

That's it! Then you create your cards, send them out, and receive miniature works art from the others.

Well it was going well untill my dad attempted suicide and is in the hospital. Now we've been trying to deal with that it's been kind of stressful lately

So sorry Jonathan. So stressful. I'm still dealing with my husbands death and it's hard to focus on much of anything.

When does it start?

Talking of starting. Would it not make sense to have the trades as a calendar month? First week of the month as sign up and then the rest of the month to complete! I get confused with all the different start dates...! I'm only a man...?

Thanks for volunteering!! So excited you're hosting.
That would make so much sense - and i love the idea, the thing is this trade only ends on the 14th August - the problem with starting early is that people don't join in because the two trades are overlapping.
But it's up to you, unless you start sign up now and let it end on the 14th August so that everyone can join in and then you have till the end of August to complete?!!?

Like i said, it's fine with me, just about people joining in - let me know what you decide.

Well why not scrap the august trade and start afresh in september? That would give everybody time to catch up on any missing cards!

So the trade will start September 1st and end September 30th - with one week (1-7 Sept to sign-up).

i think this is perfect - the trades have been quite small lately and so it should be a piece of cake to finish them within this time!!

I agree this is a wonderful idea... thought of doing it for mine, as the June was so small. I agree, I think we can all (we women too!) keep much better track of month-to-month and not worry about a week for signup and then a whole month after that, as they sometimes get. Thanks for speaking up, Steve! Won't lie, sometimes it's nice to have a fresh, male voice.

I also was going to take August off, since I'm moving, so this will be perfect.

it's perfect for me too since now i'm living at my dad's house and on the 21st i'm moving to out of town so i'm ok with the september idea

I know that the trades may be lasting over a month before they end because the first week is sign up and it takes three weeks for my mail to get to where it is going.
I guess that just so we begin them on time they can overlap. We just need to keep track of which card we send to who (whom?).

It's always like that but as long as you send them out by the end of the month then it's fine. I can't wait till tomorrow for the new trade. I have a day that I don't need to draw anything. I'm bringing a book to work that I can draw in it's like an activity book.

I can host for December.

The month of March is almost upon us and time for a new ATC to begin. Anyone willing to take it on?

I think Jeanne mentioned she was doing March in the Jan/Feb thread (asked for recommendations as to the theme).

I wouldn't mind doing it, but I'll be out of pocket the beginning of March. (If I don't get back on in time for the sign-up, I want to participate regardless of the subject--except maybe if it is drawing hands and feet, I'm still trying to wrap my mind and pencil around those subjects.)

I'd like to put my name in the hat to host the April ATC though.
