Lacramioare, thats hard to say out loud. In Holland it is called Lelietje-van-dalen (Lily of dales) or mei klokje (may bell) Her official name is Convallaria majalis, thats not so easy either. They belong to my favorites too and remind me of my mother the little bush lady. When I saw this picture I called out loud, Wouwww, this is my drawing for this week, (even though the fur of the kitten is screaming to be drawn).
I enclose a picture from the Dutch Wikipedia of it. Did you know it's Finlands National flower? Are there any Finns among us?
Interesting too that although it is a poisoned plant, it is used for heart medicine.
I tried to grow it in my deckhousegarden but it didn't work out. It likes a steady North I guess. Most plants do actually, its a wilderness up there.

Nerine, although I love these flowers, I never knew they were poisonous
or that they are used for heart medicine.
Thank you for all those informations. It's quite a lesson: if you love something, try to know it better. It will surprise you more.

Delicate small tears, beautiful lines and colors, Oana!

Here is Kitten in quick charcoal

NVA , your drawing is very nice. I must say that I admire you for working with charcoal. I tried once, but I keep spreading it all over the paper.
*Roxy*
Thanks everyone, the move went great. It was a nice day yesterday not all rainy like today. My dad borrowed a truck with a trailer so it was easier to move all my stuff and I also had help from my boyfriend and my friend. So everything went well. I'm really happy that I moved and i'm trying to unpack as fast as I can so I can start drawing again! smile.gif

You are so good at portraits, why did you hesitate with this one? Its great.

Jacqui

Oh it was most definitely the Double Dog Dare !! That's what did it .. and the fact that I needed to challenge the curls.. Not as perfect as I was hoping for .. I need so much instruction on getting that part mastered.. Another thing I messed up with .. I drew it on watercolor paper .. Not good for portraiture, I should have used a smoother paper like Bristol Vellum.. Oh well live and learn.

And yes Katdyd it was with graphite pencil .. not Liquid Graphite...

Jacqui.. !!! so thrilled to see someone else use the Liquid Graphite.. Isn't it FUN !!! Great job with the Statue and the kitten..

Very interesting about the Bells.. I did them last night at work.. In yes .. Just pencils.. ..I think the Liquid Graphite would be good too.. but my skills with pencils has been fading .. so I went back and challenged myself.. The sharpening every 5 minutes ... I don't miss!! tongue.gif

Oana_D
Carol, your last drawing is amazing!! It's so real! The drops on the flowers and the shading... wub.gif

So pleased that I helped encourage you to challenge yourself. The liquid graphite is fun. I bought some last week after seeing you using it. I had seen it before but forgotten about it. It will take a lot more practice to get better with it but it is so nice to use. I want to try it with some watercolour pencil as well and see how that goes.

Your bells are stunning. You have the water droplets looking so real. Wonderful job. I was thinking of trying them next just have to decide on a medium.

Here are my attempts so far. I did the statue in pen and then decided to try it in liquid graphite, I should have stopped before going further downhill.
Also tried the kitten with liquid graphite. His face is too long but otherwise not too bad. He was fun.

Jacqui

Good start with Liquid Graphites. I don't know if we can have these in France. Is it different from Chinese Ink ?

Thanks, yes it is different from Chinese ink, it is graphite like pencil but you apply with a brush. You can then erase and rewet areas to modify once dry. It looks like pencil in it has that graphite sheen once dry.

Ooops sorry didn't realise Carol had already responded.

I found the time to try one at least: my first cat!
I might try the portrait if I manage to

Oana - I thought I'd try your portrait. I seem to be messing up my vertical and horizontal scales, so everyone I draw comes out chubbier than they shoud be. Your photo is much prettier than my drawing of you. Thanks for the post. I might try one of the other ones before the week is over.

Hi Oana_D and all others challengers smile.gif

beautiful images and beautiful artworks , congratulation to all arts.gif
Oana_D
It seems I've lost a lot these past days. So let me fill in.

Jacqui, the flowers are great! I love the way you've made the drops.

Jodopsi, is this your first cat? Wow! It's amazing! Also, the portrait is great. Thank you very much.

Bluenoseboy, I believe I'm cutter in your drawing that in real life so thank you very much. tongue.gif

NVA, I'm glad you've tried the statue again. It has more expression now.

wosniak, I believe everywhere the weather is bad. In Romania, it's the second week of continuous show and cold. Thank you for the portrait. It looks very good.

Edelweiss, hy. Yes, I am definitely longing for the spring. I can't wait for the trees to bloom. It's my favourite season. Hope you'll join in.

haget, the cat is so fluffy, it'd like to play with it. Great job! Thank you.

Mindy, nice to see you again. I was wondering if you will answer the post.

Raidor, also, great to see you here. Hope you'll join in.
