I've lost motivation with my current projects.

I have very limited experience with charcoal, so this is a great way to keep me at the table a bit more interested than I may otherwise be.

I'm working on putting in the basics, I'll be running back over everything fine tuning. There are a few features of the face which still need refining, but I'm going to push through the entire form before I begin to tighten it all up.

23" x 30" Arches 300lb Hot Press watercolor paper.

These are still very rough strokes to get the foundation in. I'll go over the background again and really push this $#!T in there.

I ate through 3 pencils doing this, so now I have to put it on hold till I can get a few more.

I have to go over the back ground again, fix some issues with his face and add more detail. The sleeve needs major attention.

Think I might just call this one done, frame it and hang it... but keep going, until you are satisfied!

This is where he'll stay until I get to the art store for more pencils. The frame is beat to ****, I stole it from another picture I had....

Outstanding!!!! One thing to note about charcoal, I find it is better to pay extra for the no glare glass when having it framed, it helps to soften real sharp edges and you get to see your picture clearly no matter where the light hits the glass. I know this is just temporary but if you have not used this type of glass in the past, try it out with this one! Looking forward to your next piece!

Totally stunning and awesome. Not only have you captured the likeness but the atmosphere of the story and character. I have no idea how you managed to do this in charcoal smile.gif

Thank you all for the kind feedback. smile.gif

I'll have this out and finished up in a few days. I have more charcoal and 1 more night with this and it'll be done.
