Full Version: Re- introduction

Hi everyone,

Thought I should re-introduce myself. I joined a while back and was around briefly. Health issues have kept me from pursuing my drawing aspirations since. I've concentrated mainly on getting my proportions correct, and am ready to start learning to shade, at least i think I am LOL!. I'd like to start with pencil drawing, and progress into pastels and oils eventually. I'v attached a scan of one of my recent pieces, as well as the subject photo. I really have no idea as to where I start to get it shaded properly. Other than that I'm happy with it. Though the scales on the foreground didn't come out as nice as I'd have liked. have a look and let me know what you think!

I was just reading the copyright rules. In no way did I intend to present the image as my own, however I did not get the original artists permission to post it here as a reference. I've deleted the reference image, and I apologize for not reading the rules first!
I do however welcome comments on the drawing image I left up!

Welcome back, Sabbath. I'm afraid I don't have any good critism for your drawing, I think it looks pretty good. I've never tried shading on a scaly reptile yet, except for the little cartoon snake in the lessons here.

wow doing a snake to look relistic .. you will have to do each scale amd make it look as if it is maybe slightly lifted in some areas ...plus the shadow on the sides and turns ...find your position of light and keep it consistant ...your outline looks great .
