Hi Everyone!
I am very sorry that these challenge photos are a little late, it was a busy weekend. My hubby went snowmobiling in Upstate NY and crashed, he's OK but he hurt his hip. I took him to the ER today for an X Ray and nothing is broken thank god. Come to find out that he flipped going around a turn and rolled it quite a few times! I figured he had a little crash and wasn't expecting to hear how bad it was.
Anyway here are some photos for this week, I wish I was able to get out last week and take some pictures but I didn't get the chance. I hope you like them.
All levels of drawing are encouraged to participate!
The goal of this thread is to enable and encourage individuals to practice their drawing skills, learn new techniques and have fun! If you just want to sketch that?€™s fine. If you want to create a complex, detailed drawing, that?€™s great too. You will get out of this what you want. The references used are from my own personal reference library of images that I have photographed and I release them here as not under copyright, meaning you can use them as you wish for drawing.
You will be challenged by some aspect of all references most likely as you all will have different strengths and weaknesses in your ability to translate the images to paper.
Reminder:
This is a DRAWING challenge. Therefore please confine your artistic endeavours to some form of drawing: graphite, coloured pencil, pen and ink or charcoal.
There is no ruling on what size your final drawing or sketch should be. Smaller, sketchbook sizes will provide a smaller file size which is easier for loading onto the thread.
If you would like assistance or advice, please ask for it and I will be more than willing to try to guide you.
This challenge will last for one week. At that time, all challenge drawings should be submitted to this thread.
I have offered 4-6 reference images to choose from. The images are also provided in greyscale. Seeing the images in black and white gives a better sense of basic values.
I have kept the images to simple shapes that still provide challenges. Block out your basic shapes first then work the details into them, rechecking proportion and measurement against other reference points in your drawing.Click to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachment

Yes, lovely photos!
I did the leaf. I chose it because it looks like it has angry eyes! I used a .5 mm HB mechanical, a 4B graphite, and charcoal for the background.

I think that the leaf is sooo cool. My son found it on one of his outdoor adventures through the woods with my parents and was able to make it home in perfect cond. He was so happy and I took one look and thought" Hmmm.... that would be a great drawspace challenge picture!" lol

That's funny, we got married on May 1st (May Day) LOL. Hey are you getting ready for some snow, I think you are in NY right?
We should be getting at least a foot in NJ( I can't wait!) I love big snow storms, a few inches is just aggravating.

In case you are wondering (though you probably really couldn't care less) I am working on one of the landscapes. But my pen has nearly died and keeps drying out so have to put the lid on and stop all the time. Good excuse to go slow I guess. I will finish it in time, hopefully. Will need to get a new pen next time I go to the shops.

Thank you Monika

I felt beautiful that day. I am also attempting myself as a bride and I am finding myself to be a little difficult. (That does not surprise me, lol) You are right... sooooo much shading and I have a heavy hand so my drawing will probably be pretty shiny! lol
I can't wait to see your drawing of me.
