Sitting correctly is very important; not just for your health, but also for improving your drawing skills. In this article, I explain and illustrate good posture for sitting at a drafting desk or other sloped surface.

Thank you, Brenda. You have just reminded me of my many bad habits - slouching being the worst. I will definitely try and work on these things. blush.gif

This lesson helped me out a lot. I actually taped myself while I was trying to draw one day and to my surprise I was hunched over with my face two inches or so away from the paper. Thank you.

I think this is a great tip to drawing better.

I experience a lot of upper back pain when sitting for a few hours drawing, maybe the sloping table might help and maybe just stretching in between and being aware of how I sit. Thanks Brenda, I will take all suggestions of board.

Good posture is great to have even when your not drawing. I send my children to kidzartaz.com and I always remind my kids about good posture and it has taken kind of awhile to get it across to them, but I feel that it is finally starting to sink in!

Thank you so much for this, I wind up hunched over my drafting table, it's just terrible and I don't know why I do it. This reminder is great, I'm gonna really work on drawing posture!

Good tutorial. I haven't bought a drawing board yet, but I can see I'm going to need one very soon.

good reminder.
Before when I had a better chair I used to tie (not to tight) my upper body to the chair to remember to sit straight. It also helped me staying focused because it isn't that easy to "just" go and get this or do that instead of drawing.

I think this lesson might need a little update or at least be looked at with new eyes. Recent studies has shown that working standing is not only healthy but can increase your energy, productiveness and also creativity.

I have tried it for some time, in the start you get a little sore because it is new, but I defiantly felt much better. Even better then when "sitting correctly".
