Hi all,
Welcome to Snoopy 101's
The Justice League challenge, my name is Jacqui, Brian our usual host and curator of Snoopy 101, has asked me to help out this time. I am no expert but just enjoy the challenge and fun of cartoons.
The Justice League are characters originally from the DC Comic series. They are made up of some familiar superheros: Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and The Flash.
My Challenge, I encourage all levels of skill to participate, simply draw one of the references I have provided below or you may use any reference of you like. Draw one or more members of the League. You may also use any type of media you like but please no computer graphics. All drawings must be hand drawn, you may use your computer or photo shop for color or text but please post your original drawing first.
I hope you all enjoy this challenge,
Happy drawings,
Jacqui

WOW
Jacqui, that is amazing!!!!!! I love how you did the shading, you have a very unique style I like.

I look forward to yours Roxy,

Hey folks,
Danielle and I couldn't resist this one, and in fact, my son wants to join in too (so look forward to more drawings in a few days.) This is my Wonder Woman and Danielle's assorted heroes (she went off-model after a while and added the decidedly non-DC Spiderman!) I spent more time on Wonder Woman than I've ever spent on a cartoon before, and I swear I still feel that I rushed a bit.

I didn't have time to continue my wonder woman so I'll bring my colouring pencils at work and hope it's not busy lol

Slaine she is pretty good. Some things not in proportion but you did say it was a quick sketch. I like her intense expression.
With coloured pencils I used to always use Derwents and thought they were okay. My housemate gave me his set of Faber Castel Polychromos and they are so much better. They have a lovely soft smooth texture and give a really good coverage. I only use them now. Just giving you my opinion and advice. Others might have other opinions to share.

Hi all,
I must say I really am enjoying this challenge and thanks again
Jacqui, for hosting. I would like to add that these references can be very life like, and in fact very challenging to draw, more challenging then most realize, so I hope no one gets discouraged, this is a true challenge.
Ernest, I truly enjoy it when I see you post drawings with your daughter Danielle, these are so sweet, please tell her I love them all and I am becoming a big fan of hers.

Now about your Wonder Women, I think it's awesome, a very beautiful soft and very life like drawing, so I think the time you spent was well worth it, I also look forward to your son's participation.
Great quick sketch
Slaine, I find Prisma color pencils also work well with Cartooning, but as I always say I am no expert. I would love to try the pencils
Jacqui mentioned, I have also heard great things about them.
Happy drawings all,
Brian.

I hadn't realised how hard these images were, sorry about that guys. It was only when Brian mentioned how life like many of them were that I saw it (even thought I found it really hard to do Batman, just thought it was me). I have found a few other images that I hope are a bit easier and you might want to try.
It's my first time hosting... sorry for the poor choice in pics

I wouldn't say they were a poor choice just a bit more of a challenge which is what this is all about right! having fun but being challenged at the same time. I like a couple of the new ones you have added so might try them also.
Thanks again and well done again everyone so far.

OK, tonight I drew superheroes with Danielle's little brother, Zachary. He picked Batman, so that's what we drew. Neither of us felt like we needed to stay too close to the reference.

Roxy you did a wonderful job. Glad to see you using your time at work so well. Great shading.
I am glad the new ref pics are more useful. Batman is a popular choice I see. Jon you did a great job. Ernest I love your version too, but the winner has to be Zachary. That made me smile. It is awesome. It is great that you draw with your kids. Thanks for sharing their work alongside your own.

Kim love your wonder woman. Great.
Rsine awesome pic. Love it.
A super villans challenge sounds great to me. We just got a DC Comics Encyclopedia. It is awesome. Fantastic graphics. Covers all the characters, good and evil and sidekicks too. Great inspiration.

Great pic, Kim! I knew this would be right up your alley!
Love yours too, Rick -- terrific style!
I was a huge DC comic fan when I was a kid, many moons ago. I had vast heaps of Silver Age comics that I inherited from a young aunt -- from the mid-1960's -- and also my own, purchased when I started to read, starting from 1969 or so. This drawing challenge inspired me to do a little reading on Wikipedia to see what has happened in the DC universe since I stopped reading in the late 1970s. The answer: a lot!
One thing I remember was that the silver age books were just... mostly... silly, although they didn't seem so to me, seeing as how I was a little kid and silly definitely worked for me. The Batman TV show was on at the same time, and those books were just as campy. Early in my comic-book reading career -- 1971 -- there was a year-long serial storyline in Superman Comics, announced with great fanfare, about a sort of Golem made of sand who stole part of Superman's powers, making him more human in the process. The stories got smarter and more modern, and it seemed like the books were going to be a lot more serious from then on. Then suddenly, at the end of the year, the old "imaginary stories" in which Superman turned into a chimpanzee, Mr. Mxyzptlyk (the pixie from another dimension, who you could get rid of by tricking him into saying his name backwards) and other such silliness, came back with a vengeance. It was completely baffling. But I was 8, so I just took it in stride.
My online research turned up an explanation: there was a power struggle within the company. Some Young Turks took over for a year when the longtime editor of Superman Comics (and several other titles) retired, and they wanted to take things in a new direction. At the end of the year, unexpectedly, some of the Old Guard managed to grab the reins back, and so the Silver Age persisted for a time -- basically for the rest of my childhood. It wasn't until the 80s, after I had put comic books aside, that the new generation of writers were able to take over and banish the campy story lines and laughable villains to history.

Thanks guys ...It was Ernest idea I join this challenge ..I have been stressed out lately and he thought this may help ...and it did .
Yes Brian we go way back ..I have not seen Venus on here but she talks to my husband on and off on his messenger .. I do not load mine too often .
well being Zak is the winner I shall send Zak my drawing ..not that it is a prize but he has much of my artwork already lol.

Thanks for taking the time to write that
Ernest, I enjoyed reading it, and find it interesting how cartoons have evolved over the years, I wish I would have saved all my comic books as a kid. I didn't have the complete uniform but I did have an official Batman cape as a kid, and a mask made out of what we draw on "paper".

I was having fun with this so decided to do another couple of quicker more cartoon type drawings. Here is The Green Lantern, and the ever faithful servant to Bruce Wayne, Alfred. Hope you like them.
