Hi, I would just like to see what people have to say about this half finished portrait drawing I'm doing currently.
Any tips would be nice also, it's the first time I've tried to draw hair as well, and I'm scared of ruining it if I continue!
Thanks happy.gif

Sorry it was taken with a camera too, not scanned..

This is lovely -- very soft and sensitive. My only concern at this stage is the teeth -- the line separating the top and bottom teeth looks artificially straight and at an odd angle to the lips, and the lines separating the individual teeth are something we usually try to avoid. It's better to only vaguely indicate individual teeth with shading, or else they tend to look dirty.

Thank you! biggrin.gif Yeah, first time Ive tried to draw teeth as well, I was pretty happy with them, but I can see what you mean. Thanks so much for the reply, I'll try that next time and hopefully it'll look loads better!

looks like it is coming along nicely. The right pupil looks a little off center in the iris and the iris looks more oval than round in comparison to the left one. Hard to tell you exactly what without seeing the reference photo your working from.

Yeah I noticed that, it is supposed to be, just not that much.
This is the picture I drew it from:

This is the finished picture biggrin.gif
The eye is quite exacerbated because of the fringe now, but I quite like it, hope everyone else does!

Heya Kay

i think you have done a great job

I notice your ref picture is in colour have you thought about uploading your picture onto the computer and turning it into grey scale

this then giving you all the depth values for drawing in pencil

hope this helps

Thank you!

Yeah that would have been so much easier! Thanks! Gosh.. rolleyes.gif
It's a lot different in greyscale, the hair especially would have been better, and shading.
I've started a new drawing of a baby, which is bright colours, I'll try changing it.

Cheers happy.gif

I love your drawing ...the darker tones would have been nice to see but it looks soft and I like that also .

You have a great talent, to good to spend it on bad paper. It seem to me that your drawing paper is of poor quality, you dont have to buy the most expencive paper, but a little betther than this. Then you will be able to keep your pictures better, and to frame them.

Great drawing!
