Alright, if you like to draw fantasy, dragons, goblins, robots, space ships, comics, and guys with swords. Then I'd love to talk with you. I like to draw pretty much all of the above and very little still life and realistic faces. (check out my gallary) and I love to do stuff in color. So yeah, les talk.
Last night I did three drawings in marker, a creepy wolf, a death walker 8000, and a goblin with wings

I'd post em now but I'm in Minnisota and I don't have a scanner or a camera. I colored em too and they're pretty sweet. I'll post em when I'm back in I.L.

Yes, beautiful work, Kim.
I look forward to seeing yours, too, Sketch Fiend.
What I'd like to be able to draw is fantasy architecture. Castles and dungeons and that sort of thing. Also, sci-fi stuff, both architecture and other hardware.
If you've seen any of the Lord of the Rings movies, the sketches they show behind the end credits really turn me on. I love that stuff.

Jan 10 2007, 09:08 PM
Ooh, cool stuff. Yeah I loved LOTR and I love all the citys and the strategy behind and what not. I never watched many of the extras as there were tons of them but yeah.
heh heh. My little sister asked me to draw a pirate for her and it came out pretty well. He's gotta hook, peg leg, fancy hat, hoop earing, eye patch, every thing. I can't wait to post these on here!

I never use to like fantasy but after I started playing D&D I began drawing up characters for the game and befor i knew it I was drawing fantasy .
I would also like to draw midevel buildings .. the stone is very hard and time consuming .
Sketch Fiend
Jan 12 2007, 05:01 AM
ooh, D&D. Cool, I don't play but I do play a big rip off of it called Hero Scape. Fun stuff. And stone and what not, it can be really hard. I'm not a real big fan of drawing it. lol and I'm really close to posting those new pics. I just need to get them photo copied

I like your goblin and wolf. I think what you need is a background. If you add a sweet setting it would make it look more imaginative.
I am currently working on a gargoyle. Its going to look cool when I am done with the historic city its overlooking. Sadly its not in color.

Just beacause you guys are so eager to see it, Ill try harder to upload it.

Well I am not that technologically challenged. My brother is the one who takes care of anything in the technology area because he is a computer engineer major but its hard to ask him anything because then he gets frustrated.
Me: "I want to print something but the printer won't print. It cannot access the printer, it came up with an error and froze....Yeah I tried that...and that...(5 minutes later)...There is an on switch on the printer too?!"
Anyway, I have decided with putting it on the rooftop of a church, so there will be a steeple next to it and then you can see the city.

Kim great work Hun. And Paul that is NICE! I just have one question...how do ya get the picture inside your head to work its way down to the paper

? I think I have a shorted out circuit cause mine always gets twisted between my head and my hands LOL
kim1963
Jan 18 2007, 10:55 PM
Its not that easy for me .. I sometimes look at a picture and get ideas and then make it mine but changing things .. most times it looks totaly different ....once I drew barbra Striesand so much that after the 50 th time .. I could draw her without looking at the picture lol .
Sketch Fiend
Jan 19 2007, 04:31 AM
Wow, that is an insanely good horse. I like it alot. That's what I'm talking about. that's what I wanna do.

Hey All,
As you can see from my nic, Im a horse fanatic.
While I was drawing this, I could hear the wind, smell the smoke, see the steam from his flesh, and feel the trembling of muscle and constrained strength...
I still get goosebumps and prickly hairs when I look at it...
I too look at pics and make a whole series of changes, moderations, and/or deletions, which of course makes it mine (dont want to debate that point, you wont win

)
I as well used to play D&D, so much so that I almost lost my 3rd year of HS!!!
I still read TONS of fantasy books, has anyone read Piers Anthony's Xanth series?? NOOOOOOO????? Oh my, dont rest until you do, it gave me alot of mental ideas for drawings...
And Pammy?? Sometimes twisted is good...
Cheers all.

Paul I agree totaly on your comment "look at pics and make a whole series of changes, moderations, and/or deletions, which of course makes it mine (dont want to debate that point, you wont win "
some may but you are right
I have not read those books but I have read the terry goodkind books and those are wonderful also ... yes D&D could take up alot of time .. as I dont table top and years back alot did for weekends at a time .. i just do it on the computer .. its like joining in a making a story together with a few other players .. we only have like 5 players maybe 6 .. its fun and relaxing .

Hmm, yeah I read lots and lots of fantasy books including the Black trilogy by Ted Dekker, the sea of trolls, the Eragon books, a trilogy called the Door Within, all of the Narnia books, and the Crimson Sword

I'm working on getting the first book of a series call the Rune Lords because I bought the second, wizard born, in a used book store for a dollar lol

The Dragon Riders of Pern....anyone ever read any from that series..OMG I love those books. They are what inspired my first drawing of a dragon

. I need to see if my Mom still has it tucked away somewhere.... besides being the first it may be the only one still in existance

after I purged my file cabinet during the divorce.

He he he actally it is quite easy once you have a vision of how it's gona look, scaning and painting on the other hand can take some time. But when you do something you like, time doesn't mater.

Very interesting thread, superb drawings! I'd love to have a go at fantasy - all types from fairies and dragons to castles and landscapes etc. I've never really done any, so this might be my chance to learn how!
Sketch Fiend - I listen to audio books when I paint etc, and I go the unabridged set of The Runes of the Earth for Christmas. I don't know if this is part of a series or not, but it's good listening!

So who knows maybe that aint so far a way dream.
And all that thanks to internet and myspace.

Feb 2 2007, 02:01 AM
Niiiice, that's a lot of detail you got there. I pretty much suck at all types of detail. I think if I end up doing anything for art as a job it will be in comics or something where someone else does shading. I think it would be cool to be an inker.
Aviation
Feb 2 2007, 04:03 AM
Yeah I am pretty big on details. The gargoyle itself took a whole four day weekend- which was thanksgiving- so since then I have been thinking and adding my background. The chain doesn't look too good up close even though that took me the longest time. I even broke out a plastic chain I had lying around to study it.
I don't know what career I want to pursue in the art field. I just know I want to study art in college.
A few weeks ago I was so happy because my family got a new printer that is also a copier and a scanner. Then I discovered that I had to use a memory card to scan because I couldn't upload the images straight to the computer since that requires the software but my brother got this for free so then I was disappointed. Can you believe the people were going to throw it out?
