I'm having problems trying to upload it onto my gallery so I thought I'd post it here. I had problems with her left eye so after trying to fix it, I just decided to cover it up by giving her an eye patch. Also, because it was too big for my scanner, I had to scan it in two pieces then use the computer to glue the portions back together. You can clearly see the line were I did this.

Excellent drawing Rsine! I must remember that eye patch trick. Many of my portraits would be wearing an eye patch heheheh

I agree with Jeanette! This is really great. Did you use your sister as a model? The image favors you somewhat.

I use Photo Stitch for putting 2 different scans together & think it's great. It's hard to find though as Canon must have exclusive rights to it & it only comes with their scanners, printers or cameras. There are some other free stitching softwares out there that also do a good job though.

Again, good job on this.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that has trouble with eyes LOL. As for the patch, it's not so much a trick as much as a cheap way of avoiding something difficult. I guess it was either that or chucking it and starting over and that's a major pain in the backside.

Actually I'm still not finished with it yet. I still have the hands to work on. I just don't feel like working on it now so I scanned what I had completed.

I think you lost me here LOL. What sister?? I just used a photo from an old TV guide book I had laying around. It was of some actress from a short lived sci-fi show that ran briefly then got canceled years ago. Never watched the show but I felt that the photo was a good reference to work from.

I will have to remember your trick with the eye patch....Problem is, most of my drawings would have patches on BOTH eyes!!

Loved your drawing.

rsine,

Excellent cp work!!!! Very vibrant!!! Sometimes you can make your picture stiching less noticeable if you throw a patch over the area...I usually scan in three parts and then cut areas from one and paste it over the seams...hope that's not to confusing. Beautfiul job on this!!!

Thanks. No your not being confusing LOL. I've done that too. Usually I go from four to six. The problem with patching over an area is that it's very hard to get the patches to fit exactly with the rest of the drawing. It's such a pain that if I can help it, I like to use sketch paper that fits my scanner. I'm glad everyone likes her eye patch but as I said, I screwed up on her left eye and needed some way to either cover it up or chuck the drawing and start over again. Unfortunately with the patch, she dosen't really resemble the subject I was basing the drawing after.

Thanks. What I do is draw the subject with colored pencils, scan them onto my computer then use my scanning software to enhance the colors so they come out more vibrant. For me, colored pencils come out a bit too dull after scanning so I have to use the computer to touch them up a bit.

Pretty cool, like the way she looks as if nothing is bothering her... Why dont you try drawing Johnny Depp - Pirates seem to be your thing with the patch & all. I think you would be able to make him come alive in your drawing if you tried... Great work tongue.gif

Thanks but as I said, I just added the patch in order to cover up a mistake.
