Hey Markita...Long time no see!!! Great pictures. I decided I wanted to try and do the Anime figurine. It was a great pic for practicing the figure and faces. I did it on 8 by 11.5 canson drawing paper and colored pencils. I have been working on the picture since I got home from the waterpark/hotel today. Anyways heres my crack at the Draw Challenge!!!

Ok I am back from our weekend getaway. We took the kids to a hotel/waterpark here in Michigan and it really wasn't the best trip. (Too many rude people and too crowded for my taste.) Anyways I saw the pictures Markita posted (great pics by the way) and did the figurine of the girl anime doll. I didn't do it exactly the same way it was I did it my own way. Well my own colors anyways. It is done on canson sketch paper and in colored pencils.

Please forgive another post of digital work, but it's one of my main media, and the image lended itself so well that I had to do the anime in the computer.

Good job on the glass Rose! You've captured it well.
Great anime figure Venus. Don't be afraid to bump up those colour values. Animes are usually quite vivid.
Fantastic drawing Kim. Its beautiful.
Wow Cyn, excellent drawing. Looks like you've been drawing anime for ages!
Very professional job Jezz, It looks wonderful. She has quite the...errr...chest...lol Anime must have been invented by a man

Lovely work everyone!
I really enjoyed doing the horse despite my poor tools. I think the paper was a little too smooth for coloured pencils.. and we know all about my pencils that keep losing their points~

Still, this was really great fun and that's the whole point.
My granddaughter loved it though I'm afraid it does lose a bit in the scan. It looks really 3D in real life.

Rose your glass and horse are great. All of the Anime drawings by Cyn, Venus and Jazzmanian (I wish I knew how to do digital art) are wonderful. Kim your girl is awesome! Brian, Nellie and Racedolls your bees are great. I think I will try the bee next if I have time. Tismyself your portrait is wonderful and Nair yours is great too!
I also did the portrait of the girl. I don't feel like it was completely freehand since I used a grid and transfer method. So here it is.

Does anyone know how to control felt tip pens? Or if there's a lesson on the site regarding them? Correcting mistakes by adding more ink doesn't work very well.
Thanks for the wonderful image choice, Markita.

Twincedar....I think your portrait is adorable....I really admire your work. I am not that brave...my portraits still come out looking like a cartoon character.
Wintermind....like your sketch.....I have worked a little with ink and I am still greatly in the learning stages.... but I find a big difference on control with the type of tip I use and how hard I press...Hmmmm wonder if I can find some ink erasers I would be a big customer.

Maire...WOW!!! For going outside of your comfort zone you did an excellent job!!! I thought it was the original picture Markita posted for the challenge and it looks just like the figurine not just like an anime cartoon like mine does!!! Wonderful work, you are a great artist and never fail to amaze me.

Hi,
Last night wile watching American Idol I decided to try another of the challenge pictures. I chose the hornet or the bee. In all the years I have been drawing I don't believe I have ever tried an insect so this is definitely out of my comfort zone. But I guess that is what these challenges are about, getting out of our comfort zones and testing our drawing skills. Drawn freehand with #2 pencil. Must say it is not the best work I have ever done but was interesting.

after asking that it was ok of course .

Thanks Kim! Your portrait is great! I still have a lot of trouble with portraits completely freehand and need to use a grid to get them right. Oh well, maybe with practice I'll be able to do as well.
