First, I have to say I'm not completely new just to this website, but to drawing altogether. A few days ago I decided enough is enough, and that being 20 years old but drawing like I was still 6 is unacceptable! So I started searching the net for some simple tutorials and lessons, which inevitably (after a few turns) led me here and it looks like a great place to be.
My goal is to be able to draw portraits with okayish-to-moderate accuracy, and being stubborn as I am () I thought I'd start with a profile from a photo. Ironically, I had no pencils lying around whatsoever, so I used a pen. The result speaks for itself (it should be in my gallery if I pushed all the right buttons along the way). Still, compared to the last human I tried to draw... yeah, I'd rather not talk about it

But enough rambling. I look forward to getting to know a lot of you and improving my (currently nonexistent) artistic streak in a great environment

It looks to me like you have a good start. Brenda's lessons are great! You will also find some great threads going on, drawing challenges, sketching from life, portrait class, critique thread, etc,. You'll find them in the general discussions. The more you join in the more you will get out of it.

Portraits are hard to do ... when you set your goals too high at first .. I think its smart of you to not have high goals at first when just staring out ... just dont quit trying and trust me you WILL get better . I have improved so much from being here and I have only been here a short time .
