Joanie will probably want to kill me for this but she got me to give her my address under false pretenses so she has asked for it! tongue.gif

I got a package from the United States today. In it were a pack of 50 coloured pensils, Lyra skin colour pencils, pastels, oil based coloured pencils, pastel chalk and lots of other lovely things including an art magazine. They came with a beautiful Christmas Card and a lovely letter on exquisite paper!!

I was so thrilled I was speechless for a good few minutes!! smile.gif

Thank you so much my dear friend - how very thoughtful of you! IPB Image And now with all the lovely stuff to play with there's no turning back for me is there! How thrilling!!

What a great friend you have. She must have known something ( the spirit world talking), because you have a beautiful talent developing.

Random acts of kindness are so pleasant for both the giver and the receiver.

How lovely for you Rose, now its full steam ahead. smile.gif And Joanie, you're a wonderful soul to do this for another person too.

That's just wonderful, and it's speaks volumes of the type of people that frequent this site. It's just one of the nicest groups i've seen on the internet. It's a pleasure to join you all, and Rose, we expect to see some more wonderful images now that you have some new toys to play with. tongue.gif Congratulations, and two thumbs up to Joanie.

ENJOY!

P.S. Next year I'll just send a Christmas Card Okay? biggrin.gif tongue.gif

tongue.gif See Joanie!!! I told you I could keep a secret!! I never once told her when I talked to Rose in PM's...LOL though I was tempted after she got done complaining about her Prismacolors taking so long on arriving!! laugh.gif Unfortunately for me and my Derwents though we had to put in a complaint with Paypal cause a month later and I still haven't recieved them. mad.gif

Joanie you are a great person and I told you she would love it when they arrived. happy.gif

Joanie what a sweetheart you are! (as if we hadn't already realized that wink.gif ) Such a caring soul you got there Lady. I had to wait a bit to reply to this cause I got a little teary after reading it biggrin.gif I know I'm a softy:P But it does a person good to read about generosity of the spirit such as this. Thanks from me too. I bet Rose's smile lit the room...after she quit bawling wink.gif

Thanks everyone. Those were some very nice compliments. I really didn't want anyone to know - but Rose had to go and tell everybody. tongue.gif I don't mean to come across as Mother Theresa or anything but I believe in sharing and I truly care about people. It just broke my heart that Rose was so in need of color pencils and we were all online yacking away about getting them for Christmas. It made me feel bad that she didn't have access to places that we here in the USA take for granted.

I had confided in Venus about what I did (thanks for keeping my secret sweetie) and no sooner had I mailed the package when Rose went online and purchased the prismas from ebay! hahahahaha But that's okay, because I sent some other mediums that would give her the opportunity to try them out. I mailed her package on Dec. 19th and they told me it would get there in 4 to 10 days. HAH! It was 4 days short of a month for her to receive it. So now I know what she means by getting things in the mail takes forever!

I guess that episode on Oprah about "random acts of kindness" must have rubbed off on me. LOL laugh.gif

Oh yes she did - and I swear Joanie is interfering with my sleep! biggrin.gif Since the package came I just want to sit up and play!! laugh.gif laugh.gif Thank you once again sweetheart. smile.gif

laugh.gif I agree Rose, art work with the right medium is addicting!!! I find myself sometimes staying up later and later and I know it drives my husband insane because he wants me lying in bed with him. I just can't, I have to to "finish". I say I will be in to go to bed in a half hour and it turns into 3-4 hours later. So for the last few months bedtime has been anywhere between 2am and 4am in the morning. And trust me having to get up at 7:30am in the morning to get kids off to school is torture when you go to bed so late. Ohhh well as the way of life. I love art though so I don't care!!! tongue.gif

I saw this thread the other day & just about cried! I knew Joanie was very special since she has offered to send me downloaded items more than once when I complained of my slow connection.

We are very fortunate to have such wonderful, giving people in this group.

Big hugs, Joanie!

And, Rose - we expect to see some great color work from you! lol

J - I'm not by any means saying it's great but this is my first work with Joanie's pencils ... I couldn't do it before because I did not have the range of colours it necessitated. I could only do it thanks to Joanie and I dedicate it to her! smile.gif

Rose, you've astounded me with your art and the growth you've shown and I think your butterfly is terrific! It's sometimes difficult for me to view large files but as I waited for your Joanie butterfly to load in the other thread, I couldn't help but notice how it looked soft & powdery just like a real butterfly! I knew we were already seeing great things!

J

PS - I've wanted to ask for a long time - is Farfallina a common name there or does it have a special meaning? It's intriguing!
Farfallina
Thank you J... really you are very kind. smile.gif

No, Farfallina is not a common name here - it's not even Maltese. Usually my user name on most sites is Papillon (guess why I like to draw butterflies! biggrin.gif ). On this site, Papillon was already taken and I didn't really wish to add numbers or anything else to it. So instead I chose Farfallina which is Italian for little butterfly. I still prefer Papillon though! biggrin.gif
J-Lynn
Thanks for the explanation! I knew papillon was French for butterfly but didn't know the Italian word for it. See, we not only learn drawing here, we learn all kinds of other stuff too!
