Hi Everyone. My name is Isabel and I am new to Drawspace, and to drawing. I am 13 years old and I would like to know how to really start drawing or what all this site has to offer. I have checked out some of the lessons but really need some words of encouragement to help me really get drawing. Any advice for starting to draw would be of great help. Thank you so much. Also this post is for any other newcomers if they want advice or help from those more experienced than ourselves.

Isabel, you can start with any lesson that seems easy or appealing to you try to do it then post your work in an album dedicated to lessons and challenges, I have one for this which I titled sketchbook(if you take a look in my gallery).
Then you take part in weekly challenges, try to sketch a reference photo and will receive feedback and encouragement there too.
Artists and members visit these public albums and give their opinion on each other work. Just stop by the forum and browse the challenges or pick up a pencil and draw your alarm clock, a spoon, a book or an apple.The lessons by Brenda and other teachers are organized by topic and you can browse them too and decide which one you want to try.
Right now we have the weekly challenge hosted by me and the cartoon challenge hosted by Brian David. Take a look and see if you can join.

Welcome Isabel. The best advice I can give is to draw at any given opportunity! Being 13, you probably have more time than some of us! Always carry a pencil and small pad. If you see something that pleases the eye, sketch it! You can see by my post count that I'm pretty new here myself! But it's a great place! Friendly and encouraging.
