You need to understand ellipses in order to correctly draw cylindrical or cone shapes objects, such as vases, ice cream cones, mugs, plates, and tires on vehicles. In this exercise, I show you how to use one point perspective to accurately draw an ellipse. You need your sketchbook, a pencil, and a ruler.

I agree it would be nice to know how large to make the box and also different views of eclipses from side, front, above, below etc.

I think some measurements would really help with getting this lesson down.I found it very difficult to do this lesson and having to guess at measurements.

I think this lesson should be moved to beginners to just before the drinking glass and cookie jar exersise
